Kinga 11
Its coming to the time of year where the weather is about right to give the hutch a proper deep clean. What I wanted to ask is what chemicals do you guys use to disinfect it all with? Quote Link to post
Micheala Robinson 400
I use diluted jeyes fluid im sure Dettol or any of the similar budget brands would work just as well. 1 Quote Link to post
neil b 2,303
As micheala said jeyes fluid for my kennels and hutches all year round Quote Link to post
rabbit demon 302
W5 all purpose cleaner on floors and walls, then i use the w5 bacterial spray, i spray the corners bedding area and anywhere else that needs it. I clean them out every couple of weeks and I change the dirty saw dust every day. Im a slight germaphobe so i keep the run spotless. W5 stuff is good and doesnt leave any residue or smell of bleach. stealthy1 3,964
I just use soap water, let it dry, then two coats of outdoor gloss, job done. Quote Link to post
stones 23
Couple of trowels of lime mixed into a bucket of hot water and bleach.... let it dry then give all the nooks and crannies the once over with a blow torch... no creepy crawlies or germs should survive that ? 1 Quote Link to post
Rowan 308
Any spray that's safe to use in kitchens on food surfaces will do well , plus most kill 99.9% .. . Quote Link to post
Arry 21,961
I put UPVC sill board on the walls around their toilet area, this make it easer to clean down that area. Have used wallpaper steam striper without the plate just the hose for corners. As other lads said spray and wash down boiling water. Cheers Arry Quote Link to post
Kinga 11
Nice one, cheers for all the helpful replies. I was a bit dubious about using any general kitchen surface cleaner but it seems like a pretty common thing to be using. They get a regular clean out and as their toilet is over mesh, most of the mess just drops through to the litter tray underneath. But after a winter all the little bits that don't will soon start to cause some problems now the heat will be picking up a bit (wishful thinking?) ATB Kinga Quote Link to post
Rowan 308
If it's safe for food areas it's safe for animals. Quote Link to post

Lamper121 239
Jeyes fluid and 'Clean N Safe' disinfectant spray from the petshop. Also I line the toliet area with old plastic dog food sack material which is easier to clean as you can just lift it out and chuck it away Quote Link to post
