fellhound 1 15 Posted July 17, 2017 Report Share Posted July 17, 2017 Lowther Show 2017 - admission this year £16 under 15's free The Hound Show is one of the best in the North of England - Last year there were 40 packs entered and over 500 hounds over the two days - Foxhounds (Fell, Hill, Welsh & Studbook) on the Saturday, Hare Hounds (Beagles & Harriers on Sunday) This year there are prizes for the best hound from a Scottish pack in the Hillhound & Studbook Foxhound Classes and prizes in the Studbook classes for the best Old English Hound Throughout the weekend there are hound displays including pure bred Otterhounds, Bassets, Fell, Welsh, Bloodhounds Saturday there is a junior handlers competition for foxhounds (Last year there were nearly 50 kids of all ages showing all types of foxhounds - there is the hunt singing competition, hunting trade stands and the fell pack merchandise along with a terrific hunting museum display. Sunday there is the Fell Pack amateur judging competition - Next year there is a possibility of a Bloodhound show Last year in Horse & Hound Frank Houghton-Brown said 'If Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show is the 'Festival of Hunting', then Lowther is the 'Festival of Hounds'.
