Blackbriar 8,569
Did you think it had gone away ? The deal between Turkey and EU has reduced traffic from that region, but the problem seems to have simply moved somewhere else. Charities 'rescuing migrants' from the Med have now been accused of colluding with people traffickers, and running a ferry service to Italy. Boats meet the dinghies just outside Libyan waters and take the passengers to Italy.....despite the fact that the nearest port is in Tunisia ! Last year, Italian authorities said "Italy would fall", if their was a similar influx this year.....already, almost 40,000 have arrived - a huge increase on the same period last year...... http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/refugee-boat-rescue-charities-medicins-sans-frontieres-save-the-children-mediterranean-sea-migrants-a7699571.html

Blackbriar 8,569
Under maritime law, a vessel can be escorted back to its original port, or escorted to the nearest alternative....... ...... so why aren't they being taken back into Libyan waters, or being escorted to Tunisia ? They are attempting to enter Europe illegally - why is anyone helping them to commit a crime ? (It's clear from photos that most of them are African economic migrants - they went to great lengths to kick the white man's influence out of Africa then, when they realise they can't run things properly on their own, they all want to come here, to live in countries run by white men !)

Because the international effort to deal with it has less substance than a pink haired soap dodging modern liberal! There should have been a European naval task force deployed of dozens of ships headed by the RN consisting of helicopter carriers, frigates and patrol ships with constant aerial patrols. What we actually sent was HMS Ocean and I think a single patrol vessel as a token humanitarian effort.
tatsblisters 9,732
Who in their right mind would trust Corbyn on issues like this and the thousands of migrants in France waiting for their chance to get to the U.K by any means possible.
