Lump On Rib Cage.

Recommended Posts

Nuttall stuff was renowned for it one time . Looked bad but never bothered the dog .If it's along the rib mind it means the rib gas been broken at some time and calcified.

She badly broke her front leg last year.running as fast as she could then front leg went down a rabbit hole and damaged her shoulder ligaments aswell.

Maybe it's from an excess of calcium as her body repaired the leg.

And deposited it on her rib.

It's right on the end like a small uneven extension on the rib.

my lurcher bitch coming back from a bad injury has that lump like grisle on her middle rib.........is that calcium does that.

Two types of cells in and around the broken bone kick in , in order to begin the healing process.

Chrondoblasts...which makes and repairs cartlidge.

Osteoclasts ......which breaks bone down and reshape .

Both will leave a callus on the repair.

A yr last xmas I badly twisted my ankle on the railway track.

Went for an x-ray no break.but on the x-ray was a little finger nail size piece of bone about 1/2" from my ankle bone just sitting there.

The doctor said it looks like an old break.i didn't even know I had done it yrs ago.

And I remeber watching a vet programme yrs ago where the horse had an x-ray on its back leg there was a good size chunk of bone broken off and floating there.and the owner asked the vet what would of happened to the piece of bone.

She said the horses body would recognise it as a foreign object and dissolve the piece of bone leaving no trace.

And yet my body didn't dissolve the piece of bone in my ankle.

Just goes to show human and animals body's work differently.
