Throwing vitriol was a way not only of causing someone immense pain, but also of rendering him or her unattractive, which goes partway toward explaining its use in sexually charged disputes. (A strong base, such as lye, can also blind and disfigure a victim.)

Getting sugared in the nick has always been associated with weak little lads who have no answer to somebody in a 1 on 1......it was half accepted as a reasonable action for potential victims of bullies...........but doing similar on the street,or to a woman is just beyond all logic.......how anybody could demean themselves and be that cowardly is beyond me.

Saw a guy get a jug of hot water full of sugar round his coupon in the nick never heard a man scream like that in my life before or since , face was melted, and as gnasher said the guy who roasted the boy was bullied and done it to get a move out the hall .......guy was left with a face like a melted welly

So the cowards carrying out these attacks now can be compared to 1740's Brits or desperadoes in the nick! As said whoever pulls this crap in normal society should at the very least get a life sentence but I would hope they get worse punishment myself.

Talking of heinous crimes.Did you see that news report on those pair of c**ts who beat there kid to death and then strapped the dead kid in its buggy and took it on the bus and the mother made out it had stopped breathing. He actually gave her the thumbs up as the mother (if you can call it that) got on the bus!
