neems 2,406
The future will be global, the next generation will be European Right on the second part, but we'll be no part of the EU. Globalism is on the way out,if you can't see that trend I'd guess you're living in some sort of left wing echo chamber. Edited May 9, 2017 by neems
Paulnix 426
The future will be global, the next generation will be European You assume those with little life experience will always vote the same and not change their views surely history shows that people who voted join then voted leave ?

Nik_B 3,790
Not related but might as well stick it in here, the artist who created Pepe the frog has killed the character off after a most successful hijacking https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/08/us/pepe-the-frog-comic.html?smid=tw-share&_r=

C556 351
Unfortunately I'm neither rich or part of the cultural elite
Squeamish5 309
Argh!!! Don't panic!! There'll be an emoji or a meme that will fix it. Unless you're an actual little person, in which case you may be about to fall foul of some radical disability cuts. Wh'evs.

Exactly, how many people were lefties when they were young? I know I was Then I got responsibilities and grew up You said earlier you've moved away from Libertarianism so surely you've actually shifted leftward as you've aged? Or have you changed your definition of right and left?
Nik_B 3,790
Very good BGD When I was a kid I was a Guardian reading leftie, I even voted for Bliar much as it pains me to admit. I'm not sure if I even voted for anyone when he was elected for his second term, but I discovered UKIP and dabbled with all kind of ideas, Farage was a Libertarian as was Bloom and I listened to what they said and quite agreed with their principles but I didn't vote UKIP for libertarianism and UKIP stopped being libertarian when they geared up for a serious stab at gaining MPs. At the end of the day libertarianism is a nice idea but it is not going to work in the world as we have today it is as pie in the sky as people who think they're going to get communism. As I've said before I think a modern nationalist party which would ensure pensions, health services and other government help is far more viable and I would hope that if it was created it would attract people from the left and right if done right. UKIP tried it but you cannot go from Libertarian and small c conservative to left of centre overnight, it just doesn't work. I remember the horror of many old school kippers when they listened to Louise Bours talk about working with Len Mccluskey lol Edit when Bliar ran for his second term I may have tactically voted Lib Dums, it was a major Labour stronghold and voting for anyone other than Labour was basically a waste of time

I think the best way to help the poor is to have a thriving economy that creates jobs and gives them the opportunity to better themselves.

I wouldn't say reading the Guardian and voting for Blair are the best leftist credentials More wishy-washy liberal but hey we all made mistakes when we were young As I've said before I think a modern nationalist party which would ensure pensions, health services and other government help is far more viable and I would hope that if it was created it would attract people from the left and right if done right. Sounds like National SOCIALISM to me, I guess I'll be seeing you on that helicopter Nik you great big leftist
Nik_B 3,790
I'm 44 so when I was a kid it was the likes of Foot and Kinnock leading the Labour party When I say nationalist I mean putting this country and the people who live there first, I think that isn't a bad thing. P.S I am being practical, I do agree with smaller government etc and I think benefits can hurt people but it is an absolute waste of time trying to sell that to people
