Well as few you know o haven't played rugby for a few months I had a acl operation nearly two years ago recovered but playing in October I took a knock thought the worst had a MRI and the doctor told me it's gone again ! So just got curiosity I went to see the private doctor again to see if he made a mistake during the op ! Well when I walked in he laughed at me and said Iv looked at the MRI you haven't tore your acl you've badly bruised a bone your acl is Totally fine and pretty strong to take a knock to cause that much bruising well that was Monday I played for a semi professional side this afternoon after a phone call at half 12 saying they needed a winger lol

Good news Ow

The NHS were massively wrong with a call on my mrs, after years of various ops and treatments...

They said she needed a big op last June, would've been a life changer tbh... got a 2nd opinion from the top doctor in this field before she went through with it... no op required!!

She now sees this doctor and her team in London every few months, it's a different world to our local hospital who's treated her for the last 6 years of so.... postcode lottery maybe??

But a 2nd opinion is always wise

it is very much a postcode lottery if you get good care nowadays, people are slow to complain when the treatment is shit as they are so bloody grateful for what they get even when it`s the wrong way to go, too scared to question anything in case they get shoved to the back of the list, add to that the shortage of GP`s so even the incompetent ones are still practicing (and we have one here who definitely needs the sodding practice, useless b*****d) and things get missed/overlooked

Its rare to have acl or pcl surgeries twice they normally repair stronger as long as ample recovery time is given, they have a good blood supply at the insertion site whereas tendons dont have their own blood supply hence the recovery is much longer for tendons.....all these type of injuries are a waiting game ive always said a broken bone is often a far more straightforward sporting injury than tendon/ligament injuries....... the advances made in todays ligament surgeries means they are no longer career threatening injuries so best of luck for the years ahead

On this subject, ive got a tear in my meniscus ligament, any had theirs operated on, its a grade 2 tear im told.

All ligament tears are dependant on the blood supply as its whether the nutrients can be taken to the site to aid healing.....im not sure how they grade them so not sure what a " 2 " represents but basically an outer tear what they call the red zone will often heal itself with no treatment other than rest....whereas an inner tear or what they call a white zone tear will not receive a good enough blood supply to heal on its own.....are you getting a popping sensation or is the knee locking up ?

Ive been fortunate with knees but had plenty of ligament and tendon injuries elsewhere so know a little about them.

No other sensation other than pain, have heard of the locking up but touch wood..

I think the 2 means less than 50% tear, and 1 less than 25. (french doctors)

A couple of lads I know have just got on with their lives living with it, just a little bit limiting.
