Well Trump's thrown the gauntlet down to North Korea....it's a matter of who blinks first.

Kim Jong Un is going to lose every shred of credibility in front of his own people if he backs down, if he doesn't he's going to get the Syria treatment on steroids. I'm pretty sure the US airforce will be able to fly over North Korea with impunity this isn't going to be like the last time, the NKs have a pathetic airforce and fairly ancient surface to air missile systems. They do have huge amounts of artillery though.

It does seem like the Chinese are getting pretty p*ssed off with him as well, they could probably do without the hassle and the cost for the US to maintain all their bases there must be huge.

I also don't think they've quite got the capability to actually launch a nuke yet which is why a strike now could happen.

It must be a joke for the countries that don't bend for America when they tell you no you are not allowed nuclear weapons and if you do make them we will wipe you out with our nukes because yes we are allowed keep them without objection. Its f***ing laughable and if WW3 does kick off it's only USA to blame. Land of the free my hole! North Korea ain't the ones causing conflict on every continent.

I looked at all of the Chinese newspapers I could find that are in english and there's virtually nothing about North Korea in any of them so they're not getting wound up by it.

“China insists on realizing the denuclearization of the peninsula, insists on maintaining peace and stability on the peninsula, and advocates resolving the problem through peaceful means,” Xi was quoted as saying.

I think the threat of the US putting nukes in South Korea is enough, the Chinese definitely wont want that.

I have a little fantasy that I really hope is true...Trump has a back channel with Russia and made some deal on Syria where the Russians okayed the missile strikes so the US could show North Korea they are unpredictable and will take swift action, the MOAB in Afghanistan was to demonstrate a weapon that is able to destroy underground tunnels because it's a fuel air explosive and another little message to NK. They've also made some deal with China as well....either that or we're heading for WW3 lol

The Russians and Chinese also have a list of things they will want in return for favours, for Russia it would be a neutral Ukraine, for China maybe recognition of their territory that is disputed in the South China Seas?

Definitely, this friction doesn't hurt Trump and it definitely doesn't hurt Putin who looks to be seeking re-election.

There's not way that the US would have launched those missiles without telling the Russians in advance because they would have at the very least shot them down and at the worse fired at the ships that launched them.

The only problem I see though is I can't see Kim jong un being bothered he's a nutter and the north Korea people won't thank trump they are so brainwashed. ..it's a catch 22 situation that personally I think should be left for China to sort out .

I think that is the plan, get China to deal with it, he's just pushing the issue using it as negotiation strategy (I hope!) It wasn't long ago that he was threatening China with trade tariffs and recently said the trade deal would be much better if they sorted out crazy Kim's nuclear ambitions.

Part of me is curious to see if the US would really launch attacks on NK

they have to launch that moab from a transport plane on a parachute ,I would have thought it would be a very easy target for the north Koreans
