Born Hunter 17,763
Well Trump's thrown the gauntlet down to North Korea....it's a matter of who blinks first. http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/791829/world-war-three-us-military-options-already-being-assessed-north-korea-donald-trump Kim Jong Un is going to lose every shred of credibility in front of his own people if he backs down, if he doesn't he's going to get the Syria treatment on steroids. I'm pretty sure the US airforce will be able to fly over North Korea with impunity this isn't going to be like the last time, the NKs have a pathetic airforce and fairly ancient surface to air missile systems. They do have huge amounts of artillery though. It does seem like the Chinese are getting pretty p*ssed off with him as well, they could probably do without the hassle and the cost for the US to maintain all their bases there must be huge. I also don't think they've quite got the capability to actually launch a nuke yet which is why a strike now could happen. they have to launch that moab from a transport plane on a parachute ,I would have thought it would be a very easy target for the north Koreans I doubt they would need MOAB in a NK strike. Such a thing would probably be more akin to the early days of the Gulf war with precision strikes on NKs military hardware, comms, command, missile silos etc. Basically a f**k ton of cruise missiles and guided bombs. What happens after that depends on the political aims. Either leave em totally crippled under strict warning to behave or land 200'000 marines on the peninsula and end the regime properly. Possibly on the promise China gets the north as their own to sweeten them to it all.

That's right but if you are sending a message using the biggest bomb you can get your hands gets every ones attention. I think that everyone has been used to proportional strikes & precision missiles so dropping a ten tonne bomb on a handful of Afghanis is a tad gratuitous and probably deliberately so. I bet Kim is paying attention now lol But I have an even better idea than that....

Silversnake 1,099
I looked at all of the Chinese newspapers I could find that are in english and there's virtually nothing about North Korea in any of them so they're not getting wound up by it. China insists on realizing the denuclearization of the peninsula, insists on maintaining peace and stability on the peninsula, and advocates resolving the problem through peaceful means, Xi was quoted as saying. I think the threat of the US putting nukes in South Korea is enough, the Chinese definitely wont want that. I have a little fantasy that I really hope is true...Trump has a back channel with Russia and made some deal on Syria where the Russians okayed the missile strikes so the US could show North Korea they are unpredictable and will take swift action, the MOAB in Afghanistan was to demonstrate a weapon that is able to destroy underground tunnels because it's a fuel air explosive and another little message to NK. They've also made some deal with China as well....either that or we're heading for WW3 lol The Russians and Chinese also have a list of things they will want in return for favours, for Russia it would be a neutral Ukraine, for China maybe recognition of their territory that is disputed in the South China Seas? What you have said here is exactly my hopes, I wouldn't dare dream that it is actually the case but uncannily you have posted exactly my best case scenario in this situation. My worst case is VERY scary and even somewhere in the middle is VERY scary. I hope your little fantasy is actual reality or I fear the future will be tumultuous.
