Ben.broadhurst16 3
Hello, I am after to draw on the wealth of knowledge on this forum, Please could someone clarify if this is a OPEN or CLOSED FAC ticket. Edited April 12, 2017 by Ben.broadhurst16 Quote Link to post
The Lord Flashheart 73
This is what is colloquially called a "closed" ticket. The condition is "... land deemed suitable by the chief of police for the area where the land is situated..." It is not as restrictive as a ticket which has the same wording but also specifies a particular farm or location. Edited April 12, 2017 by The Lord Flashheart Quote Link to post

jacknife 2,005
So if i gain new permission what do i need to do or how do i go about it?You need to find out if the land is cleared and for what calibre Ask the land owner or phone the local licensing office Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
So if i gain new permission what do i need to do or how do i go about it? As above, if the land is cleared for your calibre or above (ring the firearms team to check if you don't know for sure) and you have permission to shoot there, you're good to go. Quote Link to post
Ben.broadhurst16 3
What details do you need when you ring up to check do you need grid references or just postcodes? Quote Link to post

Ben.broadhurst16 3
20 months now and the land i put down when i applied for my FAC is was all the permission i had but just gained some more permission Quote Link to post
walshie 2,804
You don't have to notify them of any new land as long as it is cleared and you have permission to shoot there. Quote Link to post
donnyc 1,203
20 months? I would ask them to open your ticket Quote Link to post
ianm 2,594
This is what is colloquially called a "closed" ticket. The condition is "... land seemed suitable by the chief of police for the area where the land is situated..." It is not as restrictive as a ticket which has the same wording but also specifies a particular farm or location. The wording is "Deemed suitable" not seemed. A typo i suspect. Quote Link to post
Ben.broadhurst16 3
So just ring the department and give them the address for the farm? sorry for all the questions just dont want to be going backwards and forwards to firearms department all the time! Thank you for all your help so far! Quote Link to post
The Lord Flashheart 73
20 months now and the land i put down when i applied for my FAC is was all the permission i had but just gained some more permission 20 months? I would ask them to open your ticket Depending on your experience, how much ammo you have bought and how well you get along with them, this-----^ It can... ahem... help if you are presenting them with land that needs clearing regularly. Otherwise it can be a bit of a ball ache, you need to book them to walk around the land with you if it hasn't already been cleared. Having said that most of the UK that is shootable has been shot over at some point and so they may have suitability on file, can't hurt to ring and ask. Quote Link to post

Jax13 251
Stick the permission slips in anyway. It's handy to have 3 or 4 places on file rather than just one on the off chance you lose that permission (sometimes this can happen for reasons completely out of your control) If you only have 1 declared piece of land and you lose it, you lose your 'good reason' to possess the guns until you can prove otherwise. 20 months in, force dependant they may tell you to wait longer before they grant open ticket irrespective of ammo used or previous experience, keep chucking the forms in and keep dragging them out to clear new bits of land for you. It's part of their job after all and having someone else casting an eye over the land and recommending shooting positions or places / angles to avoid will help gain experience too. It's not always about the number of shots you take, it's the ones you don't take that tell more of a story about your experience as a shooter imho. 3 Quote Link to post
