Trouble is, most people haven't got a clue how their every day meat has been treated, you just hope for the best really or do you really care if it's not pet-like? Or maybe you are very choosy about y

Both, mate. I'd step up and say it's a step in the right direction and they're pandering to do-gooders.   Off topic, but I've yet to be able to sit through one of those undercover fur trade videos.

Every culture is different though Hindus for example probably think we are heathens for eating cow ...meat is meat whatever way you look at it .just treat the animal with the respect it deserves for

Agreed with the consensus

Personally if the dogs were treated humanely and despatched properly I don't think many would grumble

However the likes of those videos are nothing short of an affront to decency

One fox one stayed with me for a while, the poor count just sat their blinking in shock without a single hair on its body

Vile

Still infantile in my head :icon_redface: Vietnam is another big canine eating country, chinese new year there used to be truck-loads of dogs sent from Thailand, they were crammed in,35 degrees,95% humidity,no water, just jam-packed together, any died on the journey it didn't really matter,i think they tried to stop it,now its dog smugglers for the meat market.A couple of Filipino guys once told me a dog tasted best if it was beaten to death, very little concept of what constitutes cruelty in countries where life is cheap sadly.

I read that it was something to do with liking the taste of adrenaline in the meat, more than a bit sick if you ask me.

I do know that adrenaline taints the taste of deer if you spook them before shooting them but the idea of deliberately abusing an animal to make it taste better is not really cricket.

I seem to remember being told in la linea when the bullfighting was on that fought bull steaks were more tender,i don't know the varacity of that, myth maybe?i do know that pinoys beat dogs, they will tell you otherwise, but I have seen dog skins on rubbish tips, the bleeding red mess flesh-side showed they hadn't died of old age.

I'd happily try the local cuisine when visiting far flung places but, I do think the animals should be given as quick and painless death as possible.

I don't know about that, I wouldn't want to eat a fighting bull because of the meat taint from it still having it's bollocks let alone the adrenaline.

I have noticed that deer shot after being bumped or the ones that need shooting again taste... it's difficult to describe, a little bitter perhaps?

Me to mate, I am hunter but cannot abide cruelty.

No pleasant mate.

I can't tell the difference at all myself and I've eaten a few that probably had a good bit of adrenaline in them.
