An Early Birthday Present For October. And It's The Holy Grail Moment For Me.

You and Renos are both youngsters.................says me now that I have my state pension although I still think like a 30 year old just that I get up off my knees like a 90 year old much to the amusement of my daughters and son in law :icon_redface:

Of course I will be there Simon, Jimmy wants you to have a shoot with the Air Sporter that he kindly presented me with..........................I'm not so sure though, you will only make me feel like a crap shot with it AGAIN.

Hi Jamie.

Yep! Brand spanking new, finest walnut stock and I'm going to have it set upon with Jimmy's grinder and sandpapers!

It's gotta be done. A great gunsmith I once knew said "Never be afraid to modify, alter, reshape and refit a stock, until it fits and suits you perfectly!"

So, if Air Arms will not make a stock to fit me, I'll work on theirs it till it does! :hmm:

:hmm: It's the butt stock that needs to change a fair bit. Looking at photos of the Pro Sport's butt-stock, I think the roll-over comb can be rounded back to a point where it will no longer push into my cheek and let me comfortably align my head and eye down the line of sight. There is a flowing line from the cheek-rest that phases into the pistol grip or 'wrist' and fades before it reaches the chequering on the grip. As it stands, that will push my left hand away but, that can be smoothed out and sanded and re-shaped into a sweet palm swell that is absolutely comfortable.

My older Mk.1 HW77 stock was a right handed one I'd aquired, that had a similar feature and that smoothed out into a perfect palm-swell beautifully.

In the top photo on this thread that Jimmy posted of the stocks he refurbished for me last year, is me shooting a borrowed Pro Sport action fitted to an early beechwood Pro Sport stock Jimmy has reshaped and finished for me, and it's beautiful and sweet. No obtrusive roll-over comb or flowing spinal design to push my left hand away any more. Just a nice, fully-funtional and practical stock. The new rifle will fit into this and we'll be able to take it shooting straight off. The new walnut job is going to be a de-lux version of this one and it's going to fit me like a perfect glove. No problems.

It's going to be all good!

All the best mate.

Simon
