I start as soon as the crop are down normally and have done since I can remember nothing to heavy then I start to rap up about February I think that's plenty of time to fill the dogs boots,I think if your running a young dog and i mean a young dog not two or three years old then there's nowt wrong with running a dog early get them on them green rabbits because before you know it the bunnies aren't green

Why are the running dog lads out lamping now (april)and starting earlier (August) surely killing the game ? Cruelty leaving cubs in the ground to starve has the kill or hunt overcome sportsmanship am I old fashioned? Maybe ! But I feel every specis in our great country needs the time and space to reproduce

In the recognised hunting season you will kill expectant mothers,weaning mothers and young,so i don,t recognise the moral high ground some hunters selectively utilise to get their point across.There is a recognised hunting season and the best we can do is attempt to hunt within those restrictions.Some are bound by factors that are non dependant on any recognised season and they have to hunt accordingly,the folk that use that excuse to justify their hunting lifestyle are the worst type of hunter.

It called breeding season for a reason but they don't even let them do that,then come the season they are twisting because there's nothing about.i wouldn't say it's rocket science but they don't think that's why.im glad I'm out of it now because of the know it all's that ruined the sport.

From now until September I don't go out of my way killing stuff unless it's a call out.I enjoy sitting and watching cubs etc this time of year.other than killing the rats with the terriers and the odd rabbit or woody for the stinkers-get plenty sunbathing on the side of the road no need to run the dogs around smashing their feet and bones to bits.this time of years spot on for bringing on young dogs around stock etc,not wiping out next seasons quarry.each to their own and all that but running stuff in the summers not for me.atb dc

Let them breed and give your dogs a rest. That's always been the way. End of Feb max for me. If you got pups on get them around all types of live stock jumping fences ditches all sorts of mooching around. Get them used to everything and ready for the winter coming. Call outs are fair enough and certainly won't wipe out next seasons sport.

Don't no if it's just me but after a hard season I look forward to relaxing myself and nothing serious. Couldn't be f****d out hunting in concrete ground and red hot sun.

After 37 yrs of the sport what ya expect the game is fecked now.some of them should of stuck to playing on the Xbox or PlayStation instead of driving around the fields trashing fences,gates etc then killing and leaving the stuff to.they are in the wrong sport but what they do isn't sport.

I love the winter and the hunting season but like a lot of lads have already said no point in killing next seasons quarry there's been a lot of mixy and stuff round my way my bit of permission is Barron in some places the farmer wanted me to get rid of a load of bunnies off one place but I don't wanna wipe out what's left there

its not like it was years ago although I eat a lot of what I hunt apart from the obvious it's not a necessity these days gone are the days where the family have to be fed with what ever was in the hedge rows
