mark williams 7,558
Funny in a way how this last 4 months I went the other way, back to a 1970`s pair of hunting springers. I`m a shot gun man as well but rarely do I pick my shotgun up, - no challenge on me, just walk, point and Boom! Boom! - that`s crap compared to the skill and field craft required with a 12ft/lbs rifle. I totally agree with Simon`s thoughts (Pianoman). Again, each to their own but "accuracy trumps power" and field craft considerably reduces any range . Phil`s fields, void of anywhere to hide ? Put anything from a vehicle to a tent or hide in the area the rabbits frequent and leave them to get used to it, no threat for a few weeks, then simply go and sit in it with your gun of chosen power. Anyways good luck with whatever gun you use and above all "enjoy". atb Mark 3 Quote Link to post

If it was that simple, even with my aging brain, I could have worked that one out myself. This is an exposed area with high winds we get on the east coast, unless a hide was bolted to the ground, it would have gone by the following morning and unless you have a super 4x4 with high ground clearance which I don't, not a cat in hell's chance. I have shot for around 50 years Mark and not a fool mate so please understand I have made various considerations and decisions, my and other people's choice to go fac and leave it at that. mark williams 7,558
Calm down, it`s only a commercial We have a barren area of land here Phil that holds rabbit warrens on the bankings. We couldn`t get near them either. Anyways they ( the farm) laid land drains and in doing so left machinery/ diggers on this ground, night and day. The rabbits got so used to this that they ran/ hopped in and around them, as there was no threat. I could easily have sat on one of these diggers and shot some. I have made hides and left them since and they worked a treat. Sorry if anything upset you,- nothing like that was intended Phil. atb Mark. 3 Quote Link to post
