patterdale 673
Hi people thought I'd share my Cheap Homemade Rat Trap Box/Bait Box.The box looks bigger in the photos than real life.Simply made Small storage box from pound shop. Metal rat trap from local market £1.25 Borehole set also from local market £2.49 Simply drilled hole on each corner of trap and screwed it to base of box using small screws. Drilled out entry holes on each end of box using borehole set. Job done. Just place trap, bait trap, put on lid and hope for catch. Simple I know but kept me quiet and busy for 10 minutes. 1 Quote Link to post

The one 8,495
fen trap would probably throw the rat off the trap the box being to high but a snapper cant fail to work in there Quote Link to post

I though a little bait just inside each side entry hole to entice them in? Quote Link to post
The one 8,495
rats are cautious of anything new if there getting a feed just by putting there heads in the box it might hinder them from entering might put some bait under the trap so they can smell it but no get to it ? Quote Link to post
LuckOrJudgement 437
That box is a very good idea. Most commercially available bait/trap stations don't give the rats nearly enough head room. Quote Link to post
EDDIE B 3,166
Not a bad concept. Maybe a couple of bits of cardboard (plastic even better) made into a + shape placed inside your box. Cut more holes in them, and you'll not only guide the rats over the pan better, but also have several traps working in the box unhindered. 2 Quote Link to post
cragman 2,788
You can always lay a piece of thin timber, cut to size, on the base inside to screw to. Something that the rats have been passing over maybe?? Easy to remove trap and base as well Quote Link to post
patterdale 673
Baited and placed, fingers crossed now. Quote Link to post

LuckOrJudgement 437
Adult rats like to sit up on their haunches to eat. This box would possibly be an environment they would be much more comfortable entering, having overcome their initial suspicion - say compared to an AF. 1 Quote Link to post

patterdale 673
.No joy with the traps yet, what it is they are set in my garden 24/7 because we do have rats in the area, but haven't had any in my garden for awhile, which is a good thing but like to keep them there and set just incase.
