Canada Geese

Not Geese.. When i was a teenager i used to lamp seagulls they used to roost on a field near a local landfill site flick the old LR9 on slip the Collie cross ..

 

Probably get put in Jail if it was these days

 

Seagulls have more protection than Geese.Tried eating a gull once,tasted worse than a Shellduck.
theres feck all on them gulls I'd rather eat a sparrow ha ha ha

i don't disagree with that but you get more stuck in your teeth then what you'd swallow

i don't disagree with that but you get more stuck in your teeth then what you'd swallow

 

As kids my grandad learnt us the art of sparrow traps,he learnt it in the east end of London and transferred that knowledge to the fylde.120 spuggies fed a greedy family in the day.

He did have a barrow that he sent us around Wesham with selling his flowers,about a shilling a bunch.Different times and different standards perhaps and it was only in the 60,s.Its possibly those standards that we grew up with then that sets the standards i accept nowadays.The land,the marshes,the shrubs and trees fed poor family,s then,its called foraging and high priced eateries now.

my dad used to go out getting dinner for the family when he was a kid never went with out my granddad workers but him and my dad still had to get the dinner in early mornings never ate sparrow or seagul though ha ha ha
