thefensarefarbutistillgo 2,482
Has anyone on here had this before? Was walking the dog over some stubble fields yesterday evening only to find a flock of around 30 Canadian geese in the middle as most lurchers would he set off in there direction, not one bothered to move, one big boy fancied its chances and walked towards my dog with its wings spread, just wondering do many of you come across this? My guess is there use to dogs walking by them and don't expect an attack?? I must state this was an accident the dog was already off the lead and there wasn't much I could do about it IMG_2462.JPG I used to frequent ground that was known to hold the odd Canada goose, especially in moult when they were known to be fatter and tastier, the mutt retrieved an emperor goose from the side of the Wharfe a few years ago,its regal status,in the oven, was not evident without its feathered attire. which century are you from morton you speak like your from the 18th century have you been teleported from past times? 4 Quote Link to post

Northern Rock 512
When I was 15-16, I had a greyhound that I used to work, he did all I asked, not with style but certainly killed a few things. He was totally stock broken to chickens etc but hated geese. By doing a load of ratting I got the rabbit control on a big estate with a couple of mates. One side of it was bordered by the river Crossens. Anyway, other side of this were houses with big gardens. One day, dog took off across three fields coursing a hare, it ran him towards the river and he lost it in a drain, next thing I see him cross the river and snatch a big goose from a garden and start swimming back across the river to me. As he does so, back door of the house opens and this huge bloke bawls at me and gobs off, I flick the finger and start walking off. two minutes later , I see him heading to the nearby bridge and racing towards me. Discretion being the better part of valour I pegged it towards the nearest copse and hid. Never found me. talking to a mate, it was Bill Beaumont ( ex england rugby and QOS Team captain ) mam's house where the dog had taken the goose and no wonder he could run. 8 Quote Link to post
