Air Rifle Issues?

Air Rifle Issues?

Just how many have had problems with New Out Of The Box Air Rifles? Is it my imagination or is it fast becoming an issue in the United Kingdom? Are we just Paranoid here in the UK, and are the Air Rifle Manufacturers treating us and the rest of the world the same?

I seem to be reading more and more horror stories of New Out Of The Box Air Rifles are going back with problems within days and weeks of purchase. It also seems that a substantial number are coming back unfixed or with Substantially Reduced Power Output. Is it just the Mild Mannered British that are getting the soiled end of the stick, Paranoia or Just Plain Bad Luck?

I must say and hopeful without putting the mockers on myself, that I have never had a problem with any of my Air Rifle from new.

LUCK?

All the best

Receiving the correct goods one paid for is the minimum one would expect.

HW 100 with stock by James Howlett, returned, appalling service by HC, took two weeks to return.

AT44 which shot 6 inches to the left of where you were aiming, returned, superb service, the replacement was waiting at the gun shop when I took it back!

BSA Scorpion SE, just would not group, not with any pellet, returned and sorted by BSA.

There you go, Edgar Brothers like customers, seems HC do not! BSA are average.

New or Second Hand one would expect good quality control for New and Goods that are fit for purpose with both.

I have never had a problem with any of my Air Rifle from new, If I did I would not waste my time sending it off for fixing, it would be exchanged or full refund there and then.

The build quality of German springers especially from the late 70`s to mid 80`s and later, is just superb.

Saying that, British BSA, Webley etc were just behind.

I agree with that but the german guns where really heavy and it put me off them

Complacency Mark, hope we get rid of it with all our industry's and once more put the Great back into GB.

My HW80 .22 has been of an absolutely beautiful quality from the day I bought it new. In fact, all my three HW spring rifles have been thoroughly satisfying to own and shoot. My HW77 is a sub-12 ft/lb .22 that is every bit as accurate as any PCP I've come across.

Then I bought a Daystate Regal .177. Brand new out-of-the-box it was a flimsy-built, underpowered disappointment. Carl at Airtech put that all right with a regulator and serviced the rifle properly. And now, it's a beautiful rifle in every way.

An Air Arms Pro Sport .22 would be my pride and joy as a rifle to own. I've heard of a few issues with the later ones but, nothing that a bit of skilled know how couldn't solve I'm sure.
