Guest Ditch_Shitter
Not sure what ye set up is there. But it may be worth a shot to run a laid down 'fence' around the inside perimeter. I.e; Roll of (at least) decent guage Twilweld pinned flat to the ground. Should discourage pup from digging just there. Obviously, a much heavier guage steel mesh would stop all that dead. But, even in 2", it's going to cost. Personally, I've found Chain Link next to f*cking useless. I'd go for welded mesh or bars every time since. I too would be interested to hear others practicle solutions to the Great Escape artists. Quote Link to post
hairybull 3
Hey Tiny, some chicken wire layed on the ground, bit up the fence but the rest out from the fence a metre or so. When they start digging they get to the wire and its gets frustrating for them. I would try to pen the dog in a dog run for a while as it sounds like she will find something else to get up to, that way you can control when she is out and what she will be doing until she is mature enough to make her own decisions Quote Link to post
pegleg 0
this may be considered too severe for some but is fairly a common method in the states . run concrete around the bottom of the fencing in the kennel area then run a electrified wire 6inches from the ground and about the same from the main fence. you can also run a wire around the top. specal chargers designed for pets are manufactured here. these are primarily used where contact with children isn't possible and are not a good idea for very young or sensitive dogs. but for dogs with intense hunting drive and climbing/digging ability they work great. this probably also wouldn't work in small areas. my kennels are each 40x 20feet anything less than half that size i'd try buried wire or full concrete. littlefish 585
Put your dog in a pen with concrete slabs as your floor. Likewise, if you don't want to have a pen and your garden is relatively small, run a layer of concrete paving slabs around the perimeter, up against your fence. This should also make it easier to mow your lawn without having to get up close to the fence. That's if you have any lawn left, dogs, eh! it will also help to keep the dogs nails short if it still insists on trying to dig through the concrete Quote Link to post
