mattwhite 1,993
Ok, so I said the other day that I would be investing in another 100 at some point this year. However, an r10 mk2 has come up near me and its not bad money and its in .177. I've never owned one so I know bugger all about them. I'm still going to get a 100 back but I'm tempted with this r10 so any advice, pros and cons would be very very much welcomed? Many thanks fellas. Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
I've heard that the standard regs can be unreliable Matt. ..... A friend had one and fitted a Huma reg - he said it was an easy fit and, never missed a beat after. I've never had an R10 but, personally, I'd give it a miss and go straight to the HW100 - I really don't think they can be beaten. Atb with whatever you choose mate 1 Quote Link to post

The one 8,488
My thought is if your in doubt why bother ? just wait till the 100 comes along 1 Quote Link to post
Bunnyblatter 1,012
Give it a swerve. Things that are too good to be true generally are for a reason. Buy a 100 I have had a R10 and it was spot on, never missed a beat but I've had a few 100's and would have one over a R10 any day of the week 1 Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Try it, if you don't like it, then take it back. 1 Quote Link to post

philpot 5,009
I have picked up the R10 so many times in various gun shops but never actually bought one. They feel nice in the shoulder but I just do not like the bolt at the rear of any gun. A side lever is so much more comfortable to use and sits in a natural position. A friend of mine keeps buying HW100 guns then sells them and buys R10's then goes back to HW100's so they both do a great job. Overall I think the R10 feels nicer to hold with a much better shot count than the HW100. Round and round we go. Good luck with whichever you decide on. Phil 1 Quote Link to post

villaman 9,983
Had two R10's worked great and very accurate but not a very pointable gun kneeling or freehand IMO . Regs can be hit and miss Action is Noisier than HW100 and only one 10 shot mag No brainer HW100 all day long ,unless the r 10 is a complete bargain 1 Quote Link to post
just-A-snap 1,269
I always buy new. If my pocket cannot afford it then it will have to stay in the shop until it can. My point is that I always have the choice of exchange or money back if Rifle is a DUD. If it was to be Second Hand then again for me it would be from an RFD. As to BSA R10 or R10 SE and Weihrauch HW100 and veriants, you can get from both BSA and Weihrauch that are DUD'S. So in just my opinion, one is not better than the other, it is all down to personal preference, as both will do the job asked of them more than adequately. Good luck and good hunting with any and all the rifles that you have or will get mattwhite. All the best 2 Quote Link to post
