stoggy 598
On Monday a farmer rang me and asked if i could go and shoot some pigeons that were on a field he had drilled on the previous Friday.I had seen him drilling it as i was shooting a few rabbits for him on another of his fields the same day. So off i went for a look on Monday morning and when i got there the field was bare. Not a pigeon in sight so i said i would go back in the afternoon for another look. When i got there roughly pigeons were on the field.I had taken the shotgun and just sat in the hedge and shot two pigeons for the flappers as i had decided to go back today. Arrived this morning and saw pigeons on the field and after a 400 yard walk pushing the gear on the barrow i got set up.It was really windy and one of those days when i had to use guy ropes to anchor the hide poles from blowing over. It was a steady day with fast birds and i started to drop a few. Then it started to snow for about twenty minutes so i got huddled up to the hedge to try and keep sheltered.I had picked about the only decent bit of hedge to set up behind and it kept most of the weather off.Just got going again and it poured with rain for ten minutes but luckily that was the last of the bad weather. Stuart joined me and we had a decent day shooting some good birds. We ended the day with 63 woodpigeons and 11 ferals so despite the weather it was worth going out. 6 Quote Link to post
