Trump Under Fire

Recommended Posts

If it wasn't so serious watching his staff say one thing and then along comes the orange potus and says the exact opposite lol

The other day he said about his staff."There busy people and dont know whats going on all the time" ... doesn't exactly fill you with confidence.

What he should have said is i change my mind that often they have no way of knowing! Lol

its easy to bash trump , but what would be on the agenda if clinton and her musso girlfriend had taken office think about it wont ya

I can't argue with that but as I said to Nik earlier in the thread, she didn't win! She's not relevant any more! She's a has been... If she'd won she'd have her own thread!

But she didn't! Trump won, but he hasn't done anything other than repeal a lot of environmental protection laws so that certain people can mine/drill for certain things with fewer consequences.

He's got the chances, it's whether his party will work with him, or not. He's definitely upset the establishment but that was the point, no? :hmm:

As I said to WILF earlier in the thread. I'm a fisherman, hunter, shooter, general child of the countryside. All I'm after is clean and water. His first 100 days unraveled that so they've already got my full attention. Next they're unraveling healthcare which will leave some of the most vulnerable people in society without basic medical coverage. Scum or not that's an issue because society has a duty to care for it's elderly. A duty of care to it's war veterans. These are front line cuts in order to give the corporations just short of a $600 billion tax cut.

He's got until 2020 providing he doesn't do something daft to get himself impeached. If he leaves the country in a better state than he found it he'll be a success. If not we'll see what happens next. None of us can predict the future so we'll just have to watch and see what happens.

Fair enough. Here in Utah he's trying to unravel the national monuments and open them up resource prospecting. Billions of dollars of tourist money, or millions for the already wealthy. Two outdoor conventions have already pulled out of Utah in protest taking tens of millions of revenue with them. Rescinding national monuments could remove billions from local industries.

Have a look what they're trying to unravel here. Your Florida mates might be interested in this particular rollback as it concerns oil, and gas, drilling in National Refuges. Places like these surround the Florida coastline. He might be better than Hilary but that would only make him the lesser of two evils. We'll never know because she didn't win.

The better option, IMHO, only got 1% of the vote.

Well as someone who works in the US shale industry I think that the regulation needed cutting back as it was finishing of an industry that was crippled by the low oil prices, same with mining.

Oil companies work hard to avoid environmental impacts and not because of regulation but because of the bad name it gives them. We had a well delayed a while back because they found a pair of nesting birds on the land and they couldn't disturb them. There is enough public scrutiny on oil companies especially shale oil companies because of the bullsh*t anti fracking lobby who have lied through their teeth.

I'm all about looking after our environment but having electricity and gas is vital.

I can agree with all of that, except the regulation. Especially here in the US. If you've worked over here for any length of time you'll find the H&S is light years behind Europe. They wouldn't give a flying f**k about nesting birds!

While I can accept that oil companies are not purposely f***ing us over and would rather not be involved in an environmental disaster, they're still corporations and regulation helps keep air, and water, cleaner. Allowing them to deregulate so they can prospect in national parks. and monuments, is a f***ing travesty and one that many of us country folk will fight to protect.

I'm alright with having gas and electricity but it'll be a cold day in hell when I believe that the big corporations are our environmental stewards!

Did Exxon ever cough up for the Valdez incident? :hmm:

Oil spills look very unsightly and are damaging in the short term but bacteria works relatively fast to break it down which eventually leads to a bloom in other organisms, obviously no one wants them but while unsightly over time nature fixes the problem.

The UK & Europe are facing an imminent energy crisis due to over regulation we can't even get a couple of shale wells drilled here. I'm sure the US can improve on it's environmental record (you should see how bad it is in Africa etc) but the shale revolution is a massive economical blessing and while you should always look after your environment you can have both.

Most of our areas of natural beauty in the UK were at one time industrial wastelands believe it or not and there are few untouched areas but they can be returned to natural quite easily.
