half n' half 8
nice pics.do you get out ratting very often? Quote Link to post
Keeps 403
As often as I can half n half, but not always with the big numbers that are at the end of the shooting season I love ratting, would go out every day if I could but work sometimes gets in the way. Theres a pond round our way where we get a few, and we have permission on a livery nearby but theres just one or two at a time, piddly little numbers there, hardly worth bothering with really Do you do much yourself? phil wright 2
im sure that half and half will be doing as much as he can now. a few years back we used to do fairly well with my mongrel dee and his fell terrier. i dont think catching one or two rats is not worth bothering with.what else would i do with a kennel of dogs?id love to be out taking large numbers of rats but im not so i go out and get what i can every other day or so. one rat might not seem worth the effort to us but i bet the dog that caught it enjoyed itself Quote Link to post
Keeps 403
I was speaking from a personal point of view Phil, half n half asked if I did much ratting, and my answer was and is that generally I dont, apart from the odd rat here and there which is hardly worth mentioning but yes the dogs do enjoy it, especially hunting them out but I dont consider that the same as a full day on the shoot. phil wright 2
ok i got confused i agree that a couple of rats isnt worth mentioning on forums but i think its still worth going out as much as possible.to be honest if i could afford the diesel id go ratting everynight and just before work everyday to just catch one or two rats at a time. half and half is lucky as his permission is nearer, hopefully i can tag along a few times now he has seen sense and got himself a dog. mind even if i was taking good numbers on a weekend i hope i would still be keen enough to go lamping a few rats on a night.anything is better than watching coronation street with our lass sometimes anything at all is better than spending time with our lass Quote Link to post
