Sky Tv Or Fire Stick

Recommended Posts

i could do with saving a few pennys for a month or two and was just wondering how sky tv measures up against the fires sticks in peoples opinions.

would i still be able to watch my discovery channel programes from a fire stick, if so which is the best one to get. i enjoy my sky television but i just dont think it justifies what i pay for it.

I'd look into NowTV pal, think it's a tenner a month for the entertainment package and you get loads of Sky stuff on demand and can watch Sky1, Discovery etc live. Think the box is about £15

These boxes & sticks are ok providing you dont want to watch lots of live sports events , I couldn't justify spending what sky ask for sports coverage , so I am prepared to put up with crappy pics & massive buffering on my telly & thats with fibre broadband

I dont get any buffering, an my lad can be online playstation, daughter on netflix an still stream movies, the sports are crap for the few iv tried to watch but the movies an tv series are spot on, we have talk talk fibre optic but we had it good before we upgraded to fibre optic tbh an dont even notice difference

I get pretty good reception for normal repeat tv series etc , the only bug bare I have is broken links to stuff, nothing more annoying than getting 4 episodes into a series & the next 3 episodes wont play

I dont even try to get sporting events on now , everyones trying to watch so the buffering is a pain in the arse

i will have a quick look into that. my broadband speed is good. i had problems with my internet and they sent a BT enginer out he run some tests and come to the conclusion the problems were wires being cut as they were running broadband to our town. he reckoned my broadband was faster than his fibre optic at home lol.

I bought me lad a firestick for crimbo, was shite. My buddy gave me a wee black box that fits into tele a few years ago now, mx box or summat but it literally turn big tele into a tablet an i rate that much better than firestick, im sure he bought a job lot a them, sold a few on an made a few in profit so give me one, iv never had a problem other than having to update whatever film apps i using, sure the new mx boxes out now will be far superior, but mine was free an works, so thats best type for me haha ended up giving firestick back, too much porn for a 10 year old an it even somehow got round our child lock on net ffs

whats a mx box katchum?

Pull the plug completely!

It's weird for a couple of weeks but you wonder why you hadn't done it sooner. You can probably find your favourite programs online anyway, only without the parts where people are trying to sell you shit...

I've still got the telly but I watch either DVD's or Netflix. I got rid of satellite a few years ago and where I live we're not in range of anything for terrestrial telly. The internet isn't that great either, and I lose service when the winter months are raging!

I buy books and DVD's. When the telly conks out I won't be buying another.

Thats what we have, to be honest cannot fault it, it even has sport box office on it. As it happened we took out a years gift today @ £25 for all the channels we had last year. But I do not watch it if there is any sport I want to watch I watch on the PC. Just watched the last episode of Gold Rush this evening. You can get good quality streams and video on line for free these days.

Gold Rush link. and many more links to other shows on the site.
