I've been unfortunate enough to be addicted to something...won't go into detail but I agree a lot of giving something up is will power...there's been some study into what addiction actually is...Interesting reading...what really f***ing pisses me off is these twats that go for their daily f***ing methadone but if I wanna buy some medication containing codeine I get the 3rd f***ing degree cos it's 'addictive'...my old man is an alcoholic, doesn't hurt anyone but himself at the end of the day and my mums given up trying to change it

So many people giving their opinions on drug addicts, rightly so everybody has an opinion, but not everybody else wants to hear opinions that come from stereotyping or being judgemental on the face value of something they see. Not every addict you see is a chavvy dick head who chose drugs as a trend or an excuse to fit in with the wrong crowd.

I personally know of a man who's daughter died in tragic circumstances, before this happened he was the happiest go lucky family man you could ever wish to meet, good job nice house nice wife and daughter. He could never get over her death, he took counselling and had friends left right and centre who where there for him, but unless you have lost a child you will never understand the loss and pain thats goes with it. I see him now from time to time walking around as you can imagine a proper down and out. He got dealt the worst hand ever and could not cope with it, he found a way of blocking the pain, drugs. Before any body on here comes up with what they would have done, don't bother I've been there when my son died I almost ate a cartridge. Circumstances can change from the moment you go to bed to the moment you get out of it.

Some people are naturally stronger to cope with life, some are not so lucky, count your blessings if you are not the latter.

Guess what I'm trying to say is not all addicts are bad people, some are just trying to block a pain that others will never understand, yet others are just fcuking idiots who should have known better.

Rant and preach over.
