bird 10,005
If someone tells me they're interested in getting a dog, I tell them if you want a dog to work get one off working stock; if you want a dog as a pet, get one from the pound. They rarely listen. spot on , i see few people on my dog walks with designer type dogs cockerpoos and labpoos , the dogs are ok actually look quite fit , but when i tell them that both my dogs are x breeds , and only cost 40 odd £quid each , and there dogs cost £ 800-1000 quid, they fooked what to say . ive told them get a mongrel /cross breed from the pound just as healthy as what they got, and only cost £ 50 quid , but your right they dont listen they soft in the head lol they rather spend soft money on the same type dog a (x breed )

I know 2 folk personally who I've told this both didn't listen and got designer dogs. One had to go back to breeder as it had something wrong with its back end and the other is constantly pishin everywhere and causing them alot of bother. A fool and their money are soon parted as they say true
JDHUNTING 1,817
But you have to remember, these people at crufts genuinely beleive they are doing right too!......one shit is not better than another kind of shit........its all just shit whatever way you stack it I don't see the comparison in terms of cruelty between an animal that has been selectively bred to the point were it can't breathe or walk properly for no other reason than some weirdo thinks it looks good to a lurcher that may be shit at hunting but will still be one of the healthiest dogs around. I've yet do see a lurcher no matter how badly bred that is unhealthy for no other reason than its genes. That said i have seen terriers were in the pursuit of hunting perfection bad physical traits have been ignored as it hasn't effected working ability, so all in all the people breeding poor working stock with a scatter gun approach probably breed the naturally healthiest dogs in the country.
bird 10,005
I just think we should all live and let live when it comes to what we do with our dogs, I'd feel like a hypocrite complaining when other people label my passion as cruel and call for it to be banned only to turn around and do the same to another group of dog enthusiasts. At the end of the day if folk want a dog that looks a certain way and to spend loads of time and money parading it around a ring why shouldn't that be allowed? Remember the vast majority of show dogs no matter how "deformed" you may think they are live long, healthy lives so where's the massive suffering and cruelty? Its not a matter of "thinking " they are deformed ,some breeds are deformed and what's more they are being bred to accentuate their deformities .long and healthy lives ??? true, yersday seen a bloke with 3 gsd and rottie , and the dogs were well trained , but that about it, they could just about walk. the gsd's backend movement was shocking , and the rottie was wobbling along, and all dogs were over weight deff . Now few other people with other dogs labs and jack terriers 4 people actually were not far from me, as i was by them with my dogs , prob about 15 yds from the bloke with gsd and rottie , they asked me what Buck breed was lol told them 1x alsatian x grey , what struck them about Buck was his movement is gate ,as he just seems to glide over ground , and his size he prob bit taller and maybe bit heavier than a pure gsd , but he got not no fat on him, you can see couple ribs, plus his temp he big sot thing with people and dogs lol . most gsd's thats bred in the UK are disgrace to the original gsd , i was told the gsd was just a cripple on 4 legs at crufts . and to keep continually breed these type dogs is 100% fookin cruel . l ike said on these posts before it the reason i came out of bullmastiffs in the 80s, they just like gsds cripples at 5 year old , and i went in to lurchers , just wanted a healthy type dog that could live beyond 5 and ot fooked up, or down the vet every week , old Bryn 10 this year Buck 5 and he prob make 10 in good physical health , you want see many gsds do the same unless bred from E/E lines
