WHAT DO YOU THINK LEAVE THE ACTION SILVER

OR PUT IT BACK TO BLACK

remember the stock will be stained walnut so the stock will be a lot darker

if i leave it silver i have to do a lot more work on it

and i will have to lacquer it to protect it from the weather

??????????????????????????????????????????

Is there nothing stronger than lacquer that will enable it to stay silver?

Only way would be to plate it. Or a thick polyurethane. But it would still chip. Not to mention dull with scratches.

I sort of view the restoration of classic air rifles a bit like restoring classic cars.

They look so much more beautiful if they are restored to their absolute glorious best. No customising or silly bits added-on. Just returned to the way it was originally made. Back to its best the day it was built as much as possible.

Just my taste you understand Jimmy.

To me, as a shooter who enjoys the craftsmanship finish of his guns this rifle with a rich, deep, lustrous blueing and a beautifully restored stock (as only our Jimmy can refurbish it) with smoothly working internals would be a far more desirable object than what? Bare metal finish under a few coats of gloss polyurethane varnish to seal it, or, electroplated chromium or silver nickel finish?:hmm:

No. Please....... :cray:
