Matthew Roots 9
Does anybody have any experience of the puma .22lr hunter rifle. Played today started to get good groups for a new barrel but it doesn't want to pick up the next round out of the mag?? Stripped and cleaned but can't see why this is happening?? Quote Link to post
Jax13 251
Is the puma the cz clone? I had issues with a cz wmr mag that wouldn't lift properly and it was down to a well worn (borderline knackered mag spring) Spring tension goes and it doesn't push the rounds quite high enough. You could try strippimg the mag and either stretching the spring slightly or see if there is a way to add a bit of preloaded with a spacer at the top or bottom Quote Link to post
Matthew Roots 9
Yes it is the cz Chinese copy lol. It doesn't seem to be the spring as it's quite stiff to load,it seems to be more of what position it's in. If you pull back the mag whilst pushing the bolt forward it will work if you don't the bolt goes straight over the top of the next round. It seems there is a lot of play in the magazine aperture.. Help would be grateful Quote Link to post
Jax13 251
Can you slightly alter the bottom metal position on the stock to tease the mag into the right position or alter / persuade the mag release catch to sit slightly further back (assuming its at the the front) How about glueing a small shim to the front edge of the mag to push it back where it needs to be? 1 Quote Link to post
Matthew Roots 9
Good idea, will have to have a look at that idea. Bit disappointed as this is a new gun. In under a week in the cabinet it had rust showing on it and now this problem. Shot less than 100 rounds and found it getting under 1 inch groups so far, being a new barrel only hoping this will get tighter. Just the load a new round becoming a problem. Have read on the net that cz mags fit so might see if one of those would be better Edited February 27, 2017 by Matthew Roots Quote Link to post
Peadair 27
I've seen mags where the cartridge base rim catches behind the cartridge under it. If that's the case then it can be avoided by loading each cartridge base first rather than tip first. Hope this helps. Check out a 30 second video on Youtube called "EZ way to load a 22LR magazine" by Steve F. You'll see immediately if this is useful or not. Quote Link to post

Jax13 251
If its brand new then take it back to your rfd and see if the importer will repair it. Quote Link to post
