Re- Awakened Interest

Recommended Posts

i've been reading through this forum and find myself becoming intrigued by the improvements in the modern tubes / bands used , as a lad we would cut a fork from any suitable wood cut up a bike innertube and cut the tongue out of an old boot to fashion our cattys , as we got a bit older we found a hardware shop that sold square section rubber that was cut off a roll that hung on the back of the shop door , a great improvement to us . i'm now thinking of cutting myself a fork and trying my hand at making something a bit more refined using the modern products ,with a thought to carrying it in my pocket whilst out walking to try a shot at the odd squirrel or pigeon . should be interesting i'll cut a fork this weekend .

mate get on it, I was a bit like yourself for many years, I,ve always had a catty for over forty years but it was always standard hazel fork square or Barnett elastic and a boot tongue, it was only when I started using the Internet a few years ago that I realised just what improvements and advances there had been in materials, it was the American slingshot sites that first opened my eyes, but there are now a few lads bringing that to England and the resurgence is going strong, you can now actively hunt with a catty as apposed to just lamping birds of perches, I think it's great, welcome aboard and don't be afraid to ask for help
