gnasher16 30,025
Lanesra is right Arsenal are probably the second biggest club in the premiership and also probably the second richest yet they are not even competing to win domestic honours,i remember when the pro and anti Wenger split was around 70/30 in favour now its 70/30 against and rightly so.....he has far too much power at that club but thats what comes with a board who dont understand football ive said for years the only time Wenger will be off is if they dont qualify for the Champions League.....Kronke isnt bothered about competing and they are a club with nothing but contempt for their fans as they are easily replaced with tourists and Chinese, hence the atmosphere is always so poor, the amount of true lifelong Gooners is becoming less and less inside that ground......ive been saying for 5 or 6 years they need Wenger gone but they are run as a pure business and not as a sports club hence they lack competitive ambition......Wengers judgement of a player seems to have gone in recent years as well when you think Hazard cost less than Ozil,Luiz cost less than Mustafi and Costa cost less than Xhaka it really begs the question has Wengers eye for a player gone....i heard Paul Merson say on the radio he learned more about tactics in 1 year at Portsmouth under Harry Redknapp than he learned in 6 years under Wenger at Arsenal personally i think he is the most overated manager in the history of the Premiership.

WILF 46,565
I have to agree with Gnasher a bit, now Arsenal are always there or there abouts but it has become plainly obvious that that is just what they are striving for......there or there abouts. Now business aside, in sport if you don't have ambition to be the top man then you may as well stay at f***ing home......now, being too man in the premiership is a dream for many clubs (mine included and as fans we are realistic enough to know this but it never stops a tiny bit of you daring to dream) but for Arsenal it is actually a realistic prospect and they just don't seem that bothered and that's a shit turn out. jukel123 7,957
Some persuasive arguments by Wenger critics but consider these stats. He's won 3 premierships, 6 FA cups, went a whole season undefeated, appeared in a Champions league final, 6 community shields, won a couple of minor European competitions ( not sure whether this was with Arsenal) and won a few honours abroad. He's never been out of the top four at the end of a season. He's made some terrific signings ,OK he's made the odd blunder but not half as many as Ferguson..Fergie admits himself he made some shocking blunders with players. Man U too had some tremendous thumping over the years: Newcastle, Man City, Liverpool and Southampton to name a few. I am not even mentioning the hidings Man U received in Europe. Check the wage bills over the last few years. Top of the wage bills..... Man City, Man United and Chelsea. Always fourth ...Arsenal! And where do they finish in league? Top four! In other words he is performing as well as his wage bill. The wage bill does not generally lie. (Except for last year.) Be careful what you wish for. Remember the chaos when Busby retired? When Paisley retired? when Fergie retired? Do you really think a new manager is going to change things? Maybe if your Russian shareholder splashes some cash you might eventually win big prizes but it will take years. If you can get a manager who is better than Wenger that is and they stick with him. I know the modern game is all about winning and money but don't forget wenger has produced some teams which have been a joy to watch, second only to Barca in playing style. I think his end his nigh, but I think he will be sorely missed. He's been a victim of his own success. Arsenal fans became used to winning things after he became manager. They now think they are entitled to win more and more. It doesn't work like that. Edited February 21, 2017 by jukel123

They now think they are entitled to win more and more. It doesn't work like that. Your initial claims concerning what he's won is right but 3 off them in the last 12yrs is pathetic for a Manager who I keep being told "Be careful what you wish for" when I say I want him gone , do some people not see the same failures yr after yr and can see why some fans want him gone . , well I struggle to see how those fans still behind him can't see what's actually going on concerning Kronke Gazidis & Wenger , the same about his teams , he produced great teams in his 1st 8yrs but the last 12yrs bang average and that is why I believe he should go as he's not going to change his philosophy that may of worked 15yrs ago . . Dinosaur isn't too strong a word for him , he should of left after winning the Fa cup 3 seasons ago beating Hull , you talk about spending money and being behind City United Chelsea in the wages department well maybe so (£192 million I think the wage bill is this season) but Wenger himself is on over £8 million and he's Recieved about £90 million since we last won the PL . . Not bad for for a manager who season after season has failed to deliver . . Maurinhio was right !!

We all have different opinions mate I respect yours , you being Man U reminds me off 1 character we had here (not sure if you where on here then) who sadly died way too soon , CraigyBoy was Man U daft and use too rip the piss out of the scousers (good banter) and me at times ;( "Scouse Kunts" where his loving response to them :) when I've been to OT or when Arsenal play Man U I always remember the man , genuine decent / funny bloke , wonder what he'd of made of Mourhinio ??
WILF 46,565
Whatever happens, Wenger and his Arsenal team have their place in history with the invincibles.......I will personally (even as a West Ham fan) be forever grateful for having the privillage of watching that team play football how it should be played and at a time when I was still playing.......it made you want to play. It was simply beautiful ! They should make every schoolboy player watch all their games. If the bloke never does another thing in football terms he has his place.
lanesra 3,994
That the sad thing for me Wilf , he's destroying his legacy too some , but no one can ever take away what you admired / loved watching , Certainly not me , but its like a Great player who carries on when past his best and some remember his latter yrs which where average not his prime when he produced greatness !!

I totally agree with you, I was never interested in soccer before that, and if you see the standard of soccer in Australia, particularly back then, I don't think anyone would blame me. I didn't support anyone in the premier league before that so Wenger made me a fan of the beautiful game and I guess I will always have a soft spot for him.
lanesra 3,994
Be careful what you wish for . . What's that 15-3 over the last 3 games v Bayern Munich . . A team Wenger stated come 2014 we will be on a level playing field with them Madrid , Barca etc , right oh , he should Leave tonight . . Though Not a chance he's an arrogant man who actually believes he is if not more important than the club !!
