Rez 4,961
I've not shot .177 springers for a little while, escpially not one I've owned for some time. A little love affair is beginning but we're not quite there. Yet. I've been shooting the last 3 hours in the garage, only 18-20 yards, if that, and all is going well I suppose. What I have noticed though is what a shear and utter rifle my 97 is. Having spent so long shooting this damn 98 and the smaller pellet, I thought I'd finish off with a few targets and my .22 and I can feel such a noticeable difference of 'sweetness' between the two calibers. My 97 is thoroughly bedded in, sure, but my god. It doesn't move on target through the shot. As I say, I haven't shot the two calibers side by side for some time and thought my 97 did nudge a bit, only a touch, but it really doesn't move compared to a fresh 98. I want to slow the shot cycle down a bit on the 98, any ideas? I could add a weight, but don't want to take it over the limit, it's heading towards 11.2 I think and is 10.6 at the moment, but as I say, it's literally still at the early stages of bedding in. It's shooting ok, I suppose I was shocked at the shooting difference between 22 and 177... I don't really shoot 177 springers, defiantly prefer them in the proper caliber, so getting one in 177 is a bit different for me. My pro sport was nice though, but wanted a break barrel this time. It's bangin the pellets in though, just I have to adapt my way of shooting. 1 Quote Link to post

You do have to adapt rez and as for me a lot lol but now i can shoot both but it took some doing and it can mix you up to as in shoot a 22 as if it was 177 shoot a 177 as if it was 22 it took a lot for me to stop doing this it was ok on the range but out in the field was another mater it was the flatter flight path of 177 and the loop of the 22 get them wrong and you will not hit any thing but then again i dont hit any thing any way atvbjimmy  Quote Link to post
tomburras 2,730
I know what you mean rez iv tried lots of .177 springers and never liked them. I always found the heavier guns better in .177 like the tx and 97. Been driven mad by .177 webley tracker and 95,s etc. 1 Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
Most spring guns are better in .22 IMO although i do shoot both Quote Link to post
philpot 5,035
I must confess that although my TX is shooting very well, I do wish I had bought the .22 version. Having shot one a few weeks ago, it seemed a little calmer to use compared to the .177. Phil Quote Link to post
