Question 18 is proving to be a difficult one and it could be argued open to interpretation. How to or how not to end up in the divorce courts ?

STOPPING OUT- Fox earths are "stopped" when they are blocked during the hours of darkness preceding a hunting day. The fox is then out and the object of the manoeuvre is to make him sleep out next day and so be available for hounds to find.

PUTTING TO- To stop a fox earth on the morning of a hunting day with the idea of keeping any fox already inside and of preventing a hunted fox getting inside.

Stopping out is preventing a bolted fox from getting back in .

Putting to is casting hounds on a known fox line .
