Rez 4,961
Just picked up me 98 from me old mans and I'm quite surprised at the shocking workmanship on the adjustable cheek piece on these newer models. Everything else is mint like, but I think they've banged these out regarding the wood work. Shocking really. It's like the cut from another rifle. And another thing that's changed is the chrome finish that's in between the adjustable shoulder piece and the stock. It's not there. Shame. I'll be having this apart when I get home... get the 'kit in' At the shooting show so will catch up on all the other shit going on when I get back. Quote Link to post
Rez 4,961
Seems a little bit of a moan really... For a £400+ rifle I suppose. It's just annoyed me. 2 Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
It would anoy me as well Rez. It's not like it can be sanded to fit either because it'll end up sat low in the stock. I hope the insides are done well and it shoots well 1 Quote Link to post

mattwhite 1,993
I see your point Rez. But...Id like to put money on it having a better trigger than the one I'm swinging on pal.? 1 Quote Link to post
just-A-snap 1,269
If you have made your name by having top quality and high standards in production, then the price of the goods should not be a factor. Someone was sleeping with that one, or is it the shape of things to come? All the best Edited February 11, 2017 by just-A-snap Quote Link to post

Someone was sleeping with that one, or is it the shape of things to come? All the best What does that mean even mean snap? The price of the item is surely the factor if you've made your name by quality of production... whether it be high or low @ codt Quote Link to post

Trigger and internals are out as soon I return. Got a rowan match and guard at home. Just bloody annoyed about the sodding cheek piece. Will be fine. 1 Quote Link to post

It passed all three, how many more passed and is it how things will be from now on. £1000+ or £400+ i would expect the same quality control. charlie caller 3,654
Serious question bud, when you get it apart, lets know if its full of swarf, and the state of the piston seal, I hope its perfect mate, but I just dont have a lot of faith in HW quality control after the last 3 brand new rifles I stripped. It was seriously shit if Im honest CC. Ive just had it in bits today and in all honesty, its the worst Ive seen in a HW. Ive only done maybe 6-7 in teh past, but it was awful. Almost 'do I take this back?' Thoughts started appearing. It was more on the dry side. Plenty of shit around the trigger unit, bone dry on the spring and guide. Piston seal looked like it had spent time in the MD of HC's poo ring. The one thing that really cheesed me off and I cant explain it, other than the above, but next time its apart, Ill show you a picture. You wont believe it. Dont know how it passed QC. Seriously.
