The House of Commons voted this bill through, with a comfortable majority, including most of the Opposition. The House of Lords would find itself on very thin ice, if it did not endorse the bill. They are all too aware that they are unelected, and to oppose triggering Article 50, against the will of the elected Commons, would give even more support to calls for their reform, or ultimately, their abolition.
