king 11,984
I just read lukey thread about raw feeding. And remembered this article I read before. I know we don't own or work sled dogs. But the info on carbohydrates protein and fat is very interesting. And the amount of miles them sled dogs do and energy burned must be the biggest of all dog breeds. http://www.mushing.com/articles/content.php?vw=2,,8,620 1 Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
I believe its all to do with everything and we all got to keep trying to find it. With working dogs of any type, we have to take or blinkers off... Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
The basic common sense comparison is this ... if you have two equally matched canines matched at equal quarry and they are expected to work that quarry or various quarries over a prolonged period of time the dog that has been fed on a well balanced diet rather than shit will last longer work harder will recover quicker and have less work related injuries ... it's common sense really ....... 5 Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Striving for improvement constantly in all aspects of our terriers is all we can do. I suppose its what keeps us going and keeps our appetite for the game up. And improving our dogs diets can only be a good thing. Stop end imagine the old bitch was fed PROPER grub! pablo esc 1,598
When I bred and raised two lurchers , a old man used to tell me to give them loads of calcium in the diet , right up to growing and into adults . he said that the take knocks and there bones need be at the strongest .as like a dog brought up on crap , the be brittle and break . I'd also read though that too much calcium the can't absorb ? Quote Link to post
Glyn..... 5,208
what ever or however you feed your terriers you don't want them as fit , slim cut as say greyhounds or pit dogs i like them fit at least a hour a day road work but to just have a covering of fat , i've had terriers loss a lot of weight after working this does not aid recovery just a covering of fat over a hard muscled body ( a bit like most of us aged terrier men lol ) i think keeps them fitter in the long term ..... and that was a interesting read King 4 Quote Link to post
