ArchieHood 3,692
......"If you want something in life, you gotta work for it" ,same goes for ferreting down this neck of the woods.Big thick Blackthorn hedges that when cut, camouflage even the largest of bolt holes. So the long nets were used along with the dogs.... When we could get to the warren we deployed the purse nets and worked our way along the bank.. When all else failed we got the ferrets to wedge the rabbits into some tree roots so that we could dig them out... Dispite all the obstacles we come across we have a good craic and always go home with a smile and a few for the pot...... 18 Quote Link to post

Arry 23,151
Yea I get a bit green with envy when I see open ground country side and high numbers while I sit here picking black thorns out my hands with tweezers and a magnifying glass after a day out. Having a day with the ferrets and a good mate plenty of banter and taking the piss out of each other (the craig) a good bag makes it more worth while of course, struggled today only getting three where we have been averaging ten. Well done mate Good hunting. Cheers Arry 3 Quote Link to post
stoggy 598
I have been in hedges as bad but it is all part of the enjoyment we get from ferreting. Quote Link to post

Your not alone there mate. Having somewhere to work that isn't full of nettles, hawthorn, blackthorn & Holly hedges would be splendid! 2 Quote Link to post

bullmastiff 615
Still not had a chance to check the camera and see if I've got any footage. I'll try and get on it tonight and have a look. W's a good Craig, pretty bloody cold but still a decent day out. Certainly beats sitting at home! 2 Quote Link to post
