Deker 3,478
OK everyone, much appreciate the input. On the whole it seems the prices I get are fair to good. If we exclude the OVEN READY prices...... Deer does seem to be very similar price around the country. Pheasant have an amazing spread from 20-40p brace, to £1 EACH Rabbit 25p to £1 each. FOX £15-£25...hey...it's a dog...what do I know...dogs get eaten in some parts of the world! (BUT I am curious about this one) I suspect we are talking supply and demand, Berkshire is getting more and more game/farm shops, so the bunny etc is in quite strong demand. What we have living here is all these Eco Warriors, Green Party Members, Organic, Free Range, Fair Trade, Local Produce, Fresh, Carbon Friendly, No Air Miles (they read it in their copy of Country Life so it must be right) etc etc....Seems the days when it was PC to be a Veggie are on the way out! Cheers Deker Quote Link to post
Aled 475
Must say Decker i agree with you there, it seems to becoming fashionable to eat harvested food i.e. game instead of only farmed food i.e. lamb etc. Long may this continue Cheers Aled Quote Link to post
Guest bruno527
if you have a village market, why not try sell there....should get a good price & a lot of intrest. REMEMBER, to have a food/hygene cert, or dsc1....some thing similar, all the game you & your buds get, sell !! share the cost of the stall usually £15-20 per day... & feed the locals good grub......., just gut & present them well, & have oven ready in cling film............ good luck. try a good traditional pub sale on sunday, build up a 12-2pm sales!! some do it here , works a treat,(all game) have a word with the landlord.
