bigliks 601
i.v got 91 92 forly on vhs here salty sooner winners and runners up cant remember what order have to dig them out to burn onto dvd sure it was those years That wasn't the Forley cup though Poacher....it is probably the Calender clubs own Calender cup vid that you have. The Forley cup was first run in '96 as an 8 dog invitational stake as Optimus says and then extended the following year to bring all the club champions from any club that wished to compete. It got to the stage where there were over thirty club champions eligible to run in the final, which was far too many to have to run off on a single day and so a series of semi's were held to cut the number in half....that was the year there were 16 or 17 finalists. To put it into perspective, that video of the Calender cup would have depicted the winner of that one club's competition which would have then been entered on the finals day of the Forley along with the winners of all the other club comps around the country. The other clubs didn't do videos but if they had done and a boxed set released each year of all the competitions just to get the finalists, then some of those who have only seen the videos may have been less likely to criticize it as a competition for plodders. If a plodder could win through to represent it's club in the final then it doesn't say much for the quality of that clubs other runners. thats true bolio but when salty won it the calender cup was one of the only clubs around and most of the dog men was in that before forley cup the same people more or less apart from the irish and the the calender had a bit of a fall out and it all broke up and then forley club was made and then the forley cup calender did not go in the forley for years when the club broke they started there own clubs with some of them with only 3 or 4 members and some did not bother two start there own clubs and just went of on there own and was lost its a bit of a shame really but the calender was a big cup in the begining and it was hard two win apart from near the end cos most of the top dog men had gone but these cups are no more im just glad i got two go to them all Quote Link to post
