He stated most of his intentions and policies whilst campaigning and it was on those policies he was elected. Nice to see he hasn't changed tact since being elected which seems to pretty much be the norm for just about every other person looking for your vote from the bottom rung of the ladder to the top, You're right, he has started most of the policies that he used in his election campaign. He's sticking by his word.He's also using Twatter now for every little bit of info he wants to give his fans. One thing I do know about those who use social media is that (to use an American phrase) they tend to run their mouths off. Lets hope he doesn't start telling the other twats in twatter land that he's going to press the big red button. What sort of a World leader has time to be on twitter ? I had no problem with him a while ago but I'm beginning to think he now thinks being the President of the U.S. is one big reality show. Not the TRUMAN SHOW starring Jim Carrey, THE TRUMP SHOW starring himself. And because it's showbiz no one can get hurt. Now he's not going to pay for the wall, Mexico will. Mexico wont. So who will ? So no wall gets built. Several City Mayors are after saying they'll have no part in breaking up American families by sending immigrants home. Boston and New York among them. I would think that bullet already has his name on it. From my understanding he's going to offer Mexico a deal in the form of business and help with infrastructure in return for them building the wall....fair enough I think. can he not just push a law through,tax all mexicans working in the usa extra n tell them their paying for the wall hes the president aint he. That is not far off, actually he is going to impose a 20% tax on Mexican imports, pays for the wall and encourages companies operating in Mexico to relocate to the USA. He is certainly very unpopular with almost everyone you speak to in Ireland, but and it's a big but, Ireland only has around 4 million residents in total and other than probably in Dublin they have never had to experience the shit we have in England. There just isn't the same pressure and that's a fact......maybe they have held it at bay because Ireland is such a religious country? ......the Catholic Church is still very powerful and part of day to day life. Who knows, what I did know is that if the Irish government had done to ireland what the British government has done to the UK they would all be singing a very different tune with the shit that the catholic church has carried out in its history on the torture front I think waterboarding is rather tame and with all the bombing and kneecapping the paddies have done over the years I think they should shut the f**k up and leave other countries alone in how they deal with problems Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Question we should also ask is could it be used on citizens if they extend the meaning of terrorist to enemy combatants , meaning if a rebellion happened against gov for gun ownership right would citizens be tortured to get to the leaders or would having anti gov or anachist views gets you labeled a terrorist and enemy of state. Lets remember under a UN convention terrorist can be tortured but soldiers of envading enemies who are of a recognized country by law cant be tortured because they arr inder recognized country and wear uniform that makes them recognizable as of such and such country. So if say iran state army invaded USA and in process destroyed every building in new york , then even if you captured those soldiers who destroyed more building then alqaeda then they still cant be tortured. However in my opinion the state should never be allowed to torture nor kill. When they have these powers, there is nothing to stop the state from torturing and killing whoever they want to. But it's only for those who've committed crimes that are evil enough or severe enough to warrant it, say many. Unfortunately that argument simply does not hold water, and history has proven this. By condoning torture (and capital punishment), we make civilised society no better than the barbarians we fear. There are ways to extract information from the enemy without lowering ourselves to physical torture. Bear in mind too that if we continue to torture suspects in the West, the enemy will feel justified when they torture and kill captured allied service personnel. They already do, If torturing a terrorist for information saves hundreds of lives so be it. What other method of extraction can you think of?? free meals and holidays for life for any information given?? I know, that is why I said 'will feel justified'! One thing is for sure, we have no clue whether or not physical torture of suspected terrorists will achieve anything. It's 2017 - we now have effective ways to obtain information without waterboarding,etc. There's plenty of material out there via google, for example. force a season ticket from sunderland on them !!!! soon spill the beans Quote Link to post Share on other sites
