If it's a dog you could turn back time and use again it'd have to be Smithy!

Would it not make more sense to get his sire and dam ?
breed to the dog that produced the bad ass.. story I was told too Cooney..

Yes, the old saying is "Don't go to the Champion, go to the father of the Champion."

i dont know Neil-look at coursing dogs-adios alonso responsible for nearly 1/4 of the field in clonmel next weekend-wouldnt take a free cover off his father(janey macaroo)

Just out of interest TinyTiger, do you know anything about Adios Alonso's mothers reputation as a brood and was she well bred ?

What do you fancy yourself for the Nationals ?

I looked at a few results recently and seen a cup won by another Adios Alonso.

It's a lot about how they're brought up, socialised and entered. I find it baffling how some lads always have workers, and others always have nothing and are chopping and changing bloodlines all the

If I could have any dog back from the past it would be a dog I bred myself called Barney that I gifted to a good mate at the time-I bred a litter for myself from him to my tiny bitch.the last time I

Good breeding with a dash of luck .

OK, so a real strong Dam line so, which gives strength to your's and Kaisers thinking on the bitch being a big or bigger influence on the dog in question.

Personally I think it's 50 / 50 and the parents must be out of good parents.

Best of luck in your selections.

Just to be devils advocate Neil. The father is a good all round dog, the son is Top Class. What if its the mother of the champion whos throwing the goods? By using the father you've bred off a good all round dog instead of using the top class son who contains the champion genes from his mother....
You're both right really.

I don't think Bo produced a lot outside of the Jeep litter but Honeybunch certainly did

Be cause Bo was,a known cur that quit in front of 300 people and should never had been bred.. call me crazy, but, if I had of owned Finleys Ch. Bo,there would never had been a jeep, Charlie, missy, etc.. Bo would have been pushing daisies after he quit to Vindicator Edited by lonespade

I agree and feel they are both equally important..

he's one for you , i knew of a bitch did very little half heart-ed certainly not tested , bred back to her sire certainly tested and produced a above average % 4 out 5 top class workers, of those 2 were bitches both crackers both line bred the % of rubbish never increased , one was out-crossed as well again still held a high % of workers , so does blood shine or just pure luck ?

You see, more recently both lotto and the other ch we're damn good bulldogs, and Homer Balboa was a dog of the year... but titere finished them all.

Vindicator is widely considered one of the best ever.

There's levels to everything. Sometimes you just meet a great. Not many dogs at all are truly truly dead game

If I could have any dog back from the past it would be a dog I bred myself called Barney that I gifted to a good mate at the time-I bred a litter for myself from him to my tiny bitch.the last time I asked my pal if I could use him again ,he turned around and told me he sold him to some boys because he was on his arse-found the lads and told them the craic-even offered them a grand for my own dog back lol-they told me I could use him but when i rang the number they mugged me off and wouldn't answer the phone.you live and you learn.dog went and was dug 3 times the same day at just over a 12m old.on more than one occasion people offerd silly money for him before he'd even done a full season.they were politely told to f**k off-he's probably long gone now used and abused.like his sire he was some dog.f****d up my plans for the future but hopefully now I've another path to go down-so all is not lost.atb dc Blackhearts Dogs 265.jpgred dog barney. Blackhearts Dogs 183_001.jpgbig bud his sire.

that's a shit situation! Funny thing, people and money.

Well done TT, all your selections are through the first day, including Blades Of Fire. He might stay after all.
