neil b 2,369
Got out this morning,as usual set off before any sane person is even thinking of getting out of the warm bed, saw us at our chosen spot just on day break, to were we had in mind is about a mile and half across rough ground, after a few stops to catch our breath we got the first mark of the morning, so 100 yard of 4z longnet round and ferrets in first one out in no time then all quiet, scan round to find ferret not moving, out with the spade a quick 2 ft dig resulted in number 2, ferrets both up so pick up and move on, next sett produced 6 but another 3 digs, we got these ferrets back off a good friend in the midlands who was packing in, they have only seen a little bit of work until now that is, the white Jill certainly knows what a rabbit is now she kept bolting one, spun round back in and another out and so on only coming out when the warren was empty, picked up and off again We soon had a game carrier full picking up a few more here and there with a few more digs for good measure it's a good job I like a dig......or 8 to be exact! The last sett of the day produced 7 the ferrets were really having to work hard to get a result, one coming out with fur mittens on . As always time was ticking on and we had butties very kindly made by my hunting partners other half, waiting in the van, 22 was the final total .
