stealthy1 3,964
Well, it was about time we put the Mrs ferret to work. Last year I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, surprise me she said, so I bought her a ferret, next time tell me what you want. We drove to a farm quite near to us to have a look. What I was looking for was something easy where the jill would not wander off with out us seeing her. So on arrival we headed to a pile of soil that looked just the job. 5 or 6 holes netted up, and we were ready to plop the jill in. The usual first things first for ferrets on their first time out, roll in the soil, a quick chase of the dogs, and a massive shit in the entrance to one of the tunnels and in she went, this left me hoping that nothing bolted from that hole, who needs to be covered in ferret shit un-netting. Nets down, game on. Had the GSD with us today, he likes a bit of ferreting, and he keeps the idiots away. The Mrs entering her little baby. And of she went, first rabbit bolts, no blank today, always a good sign, so I gave it a chop, net back on, round two. Rabbit number two makes a dash for it, but eagle eyes jumped off the hill and picks it up, this should have been number two in the bag, but when the dog dropped the rabbit in front of me, I just assumed it was dead, so hung it on a bush out of the way, walked off, and f**k me, so was the rabbit, bugger, sorry team. So it's one all. Next rabbit bolts, bumps the net, eagle eyes is on it like a flash, brings it back to hand, so I stretch it right away, this ones not leaving the party. We had a wander round looking at a few holes, there was nothing else around the soil heaps, fog was moving in and it was getting cold fast, so the Mrs called it a day. So in the end , a quick training session ended in two in the bag, dogs had a run out, jobs a good'un. End of day shot. 5 Quote Link to post
