pianoman 3,587
Always cocked ready. Both springers and/or PCP when I'm out. AND ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU KNOW IT'S COCKED! 4 Quote Link to post
RSVNelly 518
Cocked, safety catch on, finger outside the trigger guard. Good drills die hard lol Once you're about to pack up, clear the weapon in a safe direction ?? 2 Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
Cocked, safety catch on, finger outside the trigger guard.Yep, I'm the same with a pcp With my springers, I put a pellet in ready, then cock it fully when it looks like a shot's about to present it's self. 1 Quote Link to post
ftm 3,357
cocked for me as squirrels /bandits can hear a fly farting-so no point in giving them a chanceCos it takes you ages to 'clunk-clink-clunk' dunt it The amount of time you've had rapids. To be fair though, I have missed opps in the past. So you are right. now now rez lol it takes me a mili second to cock the rapid rez but it also takes a mili second for quarry to disappear Quote Link to post
philpot 5,038
Cocked always. I really cannot see the point of not having the gun gun cocked ready to go but with the safety on. Phil Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Always cocked, try deerstalking one day with an empty rifle, having to cycle the bolt and put one up the spout, your success rate would be somewhat poor, just remove the round when crossing obstructions, the same as a shotgun. 1 Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,563
A little bit of conflicting thought came back from another forum and a well respected member also . Once you cock a pcp the hammer spring compresses and the hammer engages with the top sear. These parts are the only parts under tension for a period of time, - the top sear and hammer spring. They sided with cocking the rifle only when a shot presents or looks like it will present itself. Basically " each to their own". The HW 100 takes the tiniest of movements to cock it so I`ll stay as I am. ( cant ever remember losing an opportunity through cocking a 100 as yet ) atb Mark Quote Link to post
