New Perm

Recommended Posts

I have some Snowbee breathables, a left over from my fly fishing which I no longer do but the waders still come in handy when the village floods......................

I had a quick hour at the perm again this afternoon with another 9 rats and a couple of ferals in the bag which pleased the farmer, who then brought his sister out of the house to meet me. Now she has a farm just a mile down the road and invited me to pop down to take a look around, couldn't see any rats but you can bet they are there at night but managed to drop a feral sat on top of the barn which pleased her no end as she is fed up with them crapping all over the place.

Another farm gained, I am enjoying this.

I tried the fac Rapid today, bloody hell do they fall when hit with the fac, Oh yes they do :boogy:

Nelly, have a drive around to find a pig or dairy farm as they WILL have rats and feral pigeon giving the farmer aggravation so an offer to reduce the problem without poisons may well appeal to them. The farmer offered to pay me today for doing a good job, I didn't take anything but it keeps me well in with him.

It really is a case of searching around until you find somewhere. You only need one chance to prove yourself and no matter what, you give it all you have to make a good impression.

There is a saying. It is not what you know, it is who you know that counts. This has now got me three perms with another in the side lines and in a short space of time. Talk to everyone you know to see if they know anyone. The first perm I got by chatting to the builder who did some work for me, it turned out that his father and brother had a farm..........job done.

Lots of luck mate, sooner or later, you will get a perm Nelly.

Thanks for the advice Phil, I've been taking a lot more notice of my surroundings now I'm thinking about perms.

I'm in a city Phil and even out of the suburbs there's very little in the way of dairy and pig farming, it's predominantly arable land.

I'm starting to look more into factories with a bit of land, garden centres, stables etc

I'll get there, I've got a couple great lads only a stones throw away they'll keep me on the straight and narrow?

You are very lucky indeed to have both Jimmy and Sean as friends for help and advice along with the odd trip out hunting. Very few people have that so early in the sport if ever so something to be cherished mate.

Following on from my previous post regarding a rat perm, I had a meet at the dairy farm today with a few large rats running around whilst I was there.............looks promising.

The farm is approx 300 acres, bigger than I thought and not just a rat perm. There were loads and loads of ferals floating around which I can also shoot.

What I did not know was that the farmer's nephew, who walked around with me, runs a low profile game shoot on the land which he invited me to join next season and at £300 a year, it would be rude not to. Even more boys, every September they do 4 or 5 duck shoots over a flight pond on the farm so I offered to let them use my duck decoys if they want and that got me an invite to join in.

Sooooooo an overview, rat, feral pigeon and crows with the rifle. Game, crow woodies and duck with shotgun......oh yes and a promise to introduce me to the farm over the road who has loads of rats

I think I can say today has been a very productive day.

Phil

Just need to get them to let us have a shot at the deer now then Phil
