Some folks seem to be more interested in the numbers on the door than in seeing a good race and course ,A good fit experienced dog pitted against a good fit Hare on its home turf provides a good spectacle to appreciate. Unless matching when the result is dependant on numbers most of the memorable dogs Hares and runs often ended in a day for the Hare. The artistry of the mind games and skill of the animals is where the enjoyment comes not the need to see fur in the mouth.. The days of coursing seem to have been superceded by the need to be famous especially on the internet be it dog or man. Enjoy the days out as surely they are dwindling and time is not on our side.Atb

To my eye the bitch that did the 7 minute run on that video although showing bucket loads of staying power she was never really in control of her quarry only very very briefly,the hare dictated that run from the start..that shouts out to me she's quite a slow bitch & im not saying speed is everything but if you were wanting to run elsewhere in the country it sure would help,if she couldn't take control at barely any stage she is nothing more than a one trick pony,if it took her 7 minutes to end this on that land then she hasn't much of a chance elsewhere or certainly not to regularly amass a decent body count? If running there & not wanting to get your dog out of its comfort zone & elsewhere across the land is your thing then i guess she's pretty much top class but if you want more from your dog then there's far better out there..just my opinion mind you

That animal around 2 minutes in was pushing that long ear back in the open could see it was looking for sanctuary in that dyke a hole there one could bet and was laying off it the gait does not give a true picture off how much ground they were covering good animal good long ear right time off the yr .atb bunnys.

there is plenty of clips of that bitch Kim killing hares a lot quicker and on smaller land, to my mind that proves that was a special hare and them type of hares which you only drop on now and again will make a fast type look slow and will literally need to be run to death to be caught which a super fast dog is not going to be able to do, a top notch hare will not be killed quickly by any dog no matter how fast they are and that is a fact

The best of hares are often killed by a mutt that does not have two runs in it.My mate owned a 3/4 Grey-Collie,that dog seldom missed its first run,on open ground,i never saw a first slip boss that mutt in 4 seasons.After that the dog went backwards and seldom caught 2 hares.

Totally agree I've never owned a top dog being honest but the man who taught me did several he was always happy endings his day with 3 hares going home it was only my stuberness that pushed his dogs a bit further nipper his fawn deerhound greyxcolliegrey was very fast a cast of buy young lads running her into the ground at 10 months anyway I seen nipper killing seven hares on double wire fences hills ditches In January now that's a dog at the top of its game she never did it again because he never let me run her like that again she killed from wick to tring and never gave the man a showing up .

Get on a top hare any where and you can be left with your pants down. Yes exceptional dogs have exceptional days but they are few and far between. The thing on the big land and the black if you get on a flyer there is no where to hide if the dog makes a mistake the thing is in plaIn sight for all to see. Dogs is not the game to be in if you get embarresed because theres good days average days and plenty of very bad days but the satisfaction is dealing with the bad ones ,recognising any faults or shortcomings and putting them right. . You can only run whats in front of the dog and put in the time and effort to try to get a good days sport, nothing is written in stone in the game other than if it can go wrong it usually does
