Brocock Compatto Or Fx Wildcat 22

Recommended Posts

I had a .22 Compatto and I got on well with it. Very accurate Gun. . .I fitted a Falcon M18 Scope on it . . . It was an early one and had a "Twangy" sound when you shot it. VERY ANNOYING

I complained to to Brocock and was told to "Go Away" as I had bought it second hand. Soooooo . . . I said "Thats not a very good advert. . . You have admitted there was a problem with the mechanism on the early ones . . . mine being number 00052 means mines a production/manufacturing fault . . "Twangy Springy Thing Noise" and it's only 4 months old . . . . Long and the short of it is. . . . (after a few more emails) They accepted it back . . . Not only that . . . I took it to my local Guns Shop. . Crawfords at Scunthorpe and they returned it. . rang me when it was back and ready for collection.

I did not pay anything in postage and it was returned it with a Tin of Kaisers.

I replaced it with a BSA R10SE Pepper Stock Carbine in 177 which I have had stage 2 tuned by Carl Garbert Airtech . . . . man o man . . . quite and deadly accurate.

In conclusion. . . . I would not hesitate in buying another Compatto.

Well Mike pleased to hear that our Graham at Crawford's took care of it for you. I am in there at least once a week so assume you are a local man, perhaps meet up with you some time.

Hi Phil . . . I live in Broughton . . . Graham's a Star . . . very likeable and great to deal with. . . I have bought 3 rifles from him in the past 2 years and will be popping in for another no doubt.

Would be good to meet you. I don't usually shoot anywhere other than at work. I have been to Doncaster Airgun Range

I recently bought a Wildcat and have been really impressed with it. I'm new to air guns and wasn't to sure about all the reviews been so accurate. However I'm very happily surprised it really is an easy rifle to shoot accurately, very light and feels lovely in the shoulder. However Sean and I thought it was a little too light to shoot unsupported because of wobble due to its lightness.

I also saw a Compatto last weekend and I was pleasantly surprised, I thought it looked better in the flesh and probably the quietist rifle I've heard shoot, or not as the case maybe. Everyone I've spoken too who's owned or shot one loves it and also comments on how accurate it is. I'm now maybe considering one after last Sunday.

I think it's the same thing with this bullpup design, you either like it or hate it, this seems to be the deciding factor from what I can make out. I'm used to this style of weapon and feel at home with it. To me the positives are the ease of use in confined spaces and moving around through woods or over obstacles. I also feel that I'm not realistically going to be shooting much further than 45yds and do I really need a full sport length barrel for added accuracy? And to be honest the Wildcat barrel isn't that short as it goes all the way to the back of the weapon, it's probably the same length as my HW100KT?

If you shop about you can find some really reasonable priced Wildcats that aren't that much more than a new Compatto? I think cash is probably the deciding factor mate, what always helps me decide has nothing to do with the weapon, it's called "the wife" ???
