Padnasol Alternative ?

My saluki x is getting grief from a small crack in the big pad front left foot, can anyone recommend an alternative for padnasol (which doesn't look to be available anymore) ? I've found intrasite gel effective on skin / flesh wounds in the past, but no idea if it'll be any good on foot pad

Not sure if this would stay in the crack very well without bandaging the foot

Sort of thing I'd use them purple crystals for ??

 

Somebody will be along in a minute to tell you the scientific name for it I rate it for cuts to nails and pads infections ect.

as above or germolene ointment then place a small plastic freezer bag over the foot bit of selotape around it an old sock over the top leave a couple of days check if need be do it again

Thanks for the replies. Sorry I didn't explain very well. It's cracks rather than cuts in the pad, like we get on our heels. I don't think there's too much risk of infection, it's more a case of getting the top surface of the pad to knit back together.

 

The dog was limping, so I took her to a canine osteopath, who couldn't find anything wrong with muscles / skeleton. They thought it most likely that a tiny bit of grit had got into a crack and irritated the nerve endings in the pad. I've kept her in for 5 days and she's not limping now, just a little light on that foot, so hopefully she's on the mend. Want to get her pads into better condition so it doesn't happen again.

Not sure if this is helpful .... If you're considering using human jollops, Flexitol heel balm is magic for cracked heels. Think its signif component may be urea, so obvs look into whether it's toxic for dogs. Or my dads cure for everything skin.... cold pressed olive oil.

Cheers Squemish, I did try aqueous cream, but it didn't seem to have the same effect as it does on our heels.

 

Looks like the sled dog equipment sellers stock pad care and remedies, going to give one of these a try
