lamping last night

Why use two dogs the size of those to kill one little fox? I have always found that you get fewer injuries to the dogs using one dog rather than two, provided that the one dog is up to the task in hand. I think that two dogs tend to get in the way of each other.

The only exception to this is with muntjac bucks where I think that using two dogs can sometimes save serious injury but a 40 or 50lb muntjac buck is dangerous and can seriously injure or kill a dog whereas a 12-14lb fox can only give a big dog like yours a few nips.

both my dogs can kill foxes single handedly and do so regularly,i run 2 dogs because you have better results, not because they cant handle a few nips as you put it.

I'm not doubting they can both kill single handed, personally I would much rather see a dog do the work on its own than doubled up and I think you will get less damage done to the dog that way and so be able to run him more often

8 is the most we've had but that was with 4 dogs, running 2 at a time.

A team of lads who i sometimes go out with had 17 in one nights lamping (mostly big cubs) in lincolnshire with 4 dogs at the beginning of the season before last, just after the corn was cut, the dogs were totally blown out after that trip, I`m still kicking myself for not being there with them !!!!! :good:
