Treehands. 1,379
I've seen plenty on shoot days with overcooked spaniels and half hearted owners . We all make mistakes when training a dog but if one is made its back to the beginning imo. I take time to bond with my dogs and imo a collar would jeperdise that bond. I can understand to a point to reinforce a command but more often than not they become the norm and the poor dog is zapped willy nilly. And finally..when the collar comes off the dog it will still be a twat. 4 Quote Link to post

If someone uses a hammer to try and put in a new window, and it breaks the glass, the problem wasn't that hammers are bad tools, it was that the person using the hammer didn't know what a hammer is supposed to be used for, or how to properly use it. Saying a hammer is useless because you observed the scene described above only shows your own ignorance of the proper use of the said tool. My use of the word "ignorance" was not intended to be an insult or offensive towards you in anyway. I'm merely stating the fact that just because you haven't seen an e-collar used properly, doesn't mean it's a bad tool to use. Edited January 4, 2017 by Minkenry 4 Quote Link to post

You'll notice the lurcher in this video has no e-collar on, and I haven't put an e-collar on her one single time in the last 6 months...... https://youtu.be/M5GwKWq8n8g https://youtu.be/2aKt7nrtLd4 Please make sure you watch the first video to the end, as I explain my reason for calling the dog off the muskrat. Treehands. 1,379
No offence taken Henry . I admit to being ignorant regarding the correct use of an E collar, I've only witnessed missuse and frustrated handlers. Please educate me in the correct use of a combined collar. Kindly leave the tools in the tool chest as it only confuses me . Atb TH. 1 Quote Link to post

Have a look at this mate and you tell me whether you would have the same results using your "bond" with the dog or treats and praise Quote Link to post
Treehands. 1,379
Attack dogs !!!! It's a hunting site with a thread regarding combined E. collar /location collar . And that is what my comments were based on, hunting dogs. So what your saying is to train a dog of that nature you need to use an electric collar to do so ? How were they trained before electric collars ? Is an electric collar just a shortcut from endless hours of repetition. Quote Link to post

I used that clip as to me that is a real driven dog that needs correction to keep it in check as you can see it will listen to commands and is obviously trained to a good standard the collar is there to quickly correct the dog similar to a jerk of the lead or a harsh word. I've said the same a collar makes up for the owners short comings ect until someone more experienced showed me that is not allways the case with every dog it doesn't matter what it is sport dog gundog herder an e-collar is just another tool in the box. And for the record I personally have never needed to use one for any dogs I've ever owned and I know one or 2 sport dog trainers that are on here that have never needed to use them either. But if i thought it was needed I would have no hesitation in using one whether it was for a terrier lurcher spaniel or shepherd ?? Quote Link to post

You threaten most folk on here with the police if something not getting your way . Ur the worst sort to have on a forum like this Edited January 7, 2017 by leo1 2 Quote Link to post

Treehands. 1,379
Again only you that comes out with such shit. The shoot reported you on that occasion and I don't blame them . As stated I only lamped once with you an that was enough. No matter what you come out with the fact will remain the same. You need therapy and quick. At 57 you would think maturity might have kicked in. 1 Quote Link to post
