mark williams 7,561
Not wanting to enter any calibre controversy but please post your reply with the rifle you hunt with, should prove both interesting and very helpful. HW 100 KT .177 I hunt with AA Fields 8.4 g, 4.52. I find this a devastating combination. HW 100 KS .22 Falcon Accuracy Plus 13.43 g, 5.52 very flat trajectory, accurate and hard hitting. ( thanks Mitch) TX 200 HC mk 3 .177. JSB Exact Express 7.87 g, 4.52 ultimate flat trajectory, very fast and accurate ( precision shooting) ( thanks Mitch) FWB Sport 124 - JSB Exact Express .177. FWB Sport 127 - Falcon Accuracy Plus .22 atb Mark 1 Quote Link to post
Jonjon79 13,358
I'll list these in order of my favourite hunting rifle ....... Impact GSX100 .177 with JSB Heavy 10.34gn. Not the flatest trajectory but, I've got used to it now and, the way it hits gives me confidence. TX200hc .22 with Falcon Accuracy Plus 13.43gn. Nice fast, flat pellet (for a .22). The soft lead seems to deform well on impact and deliver a good hit. BSA Super 10 .22 JSB RS 13.43gn. Exactly the same reasons as above. I know they're pretty much FAPs in a different tin but, oddly, these are more accurate in the S10. HW97kt .177 with Falcon Accuracy Plus 7.33gn. I haven't actually hunted with this yet but, I've put in a lot of practice with this combo. This rifle gives more recoil than my others so, this quick pellet seems to give me the best chance for accuracy so far. However, after Si's tip, I am going to give the JSB Heavies a good try with this rifle at the range. Once I've settled on a pellet and I'm happy with my technique, the 97 will probably move up the list 3 Quote Link to post

PeskyWabbits 464
Maybe this is where I am going wrong. I think today will be a HW35 / .177 Pro Sport / .22 Pro Sport / HW100 (delete as required) day Extract the gun from the cabinet, grab the most full tin of pellets, try and zero it in in 5 shots then off I go. The Hw100 is set up with a borrowed ATN Night Vision, so that is night hunting rats. Or more correctly, sitting in the cold, trying to stay awake. Peering through a coke bottle sized sight that hangs uncomfortably off the back of my rifle. My success rate is so poor, I have put down half a bucket of Tom Cat blocks. I had better success with my red LEDs on a timer and a red T20. Back on topic ( I do wander, sorry). Hw100 KT .22 AA Diablo Field .22 16 grains Air Arms Pro Sport .22 RWS Super Field .22 16 grains. Ouch said the magpie I got this morning. HW35 .22 1983 model. RWS Super Field .22 16 grains or RWS Super Dome 14.5 grains This was my main gun but I am trying to use the .22 Pro Sport more. Air Arms Pro Sport .177 AA Diablo Field .177 8.4 grains I did try to go .177 but I have been on .22 too long. The HW100 is nice but i like the convenience of a grab and go springer. So Hw35 or Pro Sport .22 on most days. 1 Quote Link to post
